Cabine above the ravine

A cabin set at the edge of a cottage settlement, resting within a wooded plot above a steep slope.

Toward the access road, the house remains quiet and restrained, blending almost seamlessly with the modest cabins around it. In contrast, it opens toward the forest, unfolding wide views into the ravine and across the distant landscape.

The form of the cabin is shaped by a careful dialogue with its site. The desire to preserve as many existing trees as possible led to an irregular plan, allowing the house to settle gently among them. In doing so, the architecture responds not only to its internal life, but also to the forest that surrounds it.

Transportation terminal Chomutov I competition proposal

🥇 We won 1st place in a public architectural competition! 🥇

The proposal reimagines the railway and bus terminal as both an infrastructural hub and a catalyst for urban transformation in Chomutov.

The architecture of the railway station aims to give the city of Chomutov a dignified and memorable new landmark while remaining calm, modest, and unpretentious. The design seeks a strong yet restrained building capable of enduring both visually and technologically over time.

The urban concept balances a clear vision for the future with the city’s complex reality, proposing a pragmatic, phased development strategy. Principles of open urbanism are applied to allow flexible, low-cost responses to ongoing changes within the area. One of the key themes of the proposal is the search for an appropriate purpose and degree of development for each area – we try to find balance between visions and plausible reality.

🏅 We received an honorable mention in a public architectural competition! 🏅

The situation in Havlíčkův Brod offers a unique opportunity to place a new swimming pool within a setting of mature greenery and moreover in direct connection to an outdoor swimming area. Our point of reference became a “pool in the forest” — a building embedded directly in the natural environment by which it is immediately surrounded.

As for the concept of the pool’s interior, particularly the two swimming halls, we sought a balance between modesty and grandeur, a quality that seems to have been somewhat abandoned in contemporary pool design. We therefore decided to propose two distinct yet complementary atmospheres. The lap pool, through its rational design, enhances a sense of calm, lightness, and an understated everyday character. The relaxation pool, on the other hand, introduces the aforementioned grandeur by combining a rational concrete structural frame with a “vaulted” ceiling that also serves for acoustic function. Through this simple and cost-effective element, it is possible to achieve an atmosphere that evokes the archetype of ancient baths.

It’s been a while since we added our last post. We didn’t have much time left for sharing last year as our studio was marked by an intense workload. But because we know well that sharing is caring, we’ll try to stay in touch with you more often this year. The first of the projects from the past year that we’d like to present to you is a competition proposal for a swimming pool in Havlíčkův Brod.

Reconstruction of a barn

Adaptation of the large agricultural building, which included stables, a barn, horse stalls and a granary. We transform the unused object for recreational purposes... In addition to storage and support facilities, it will now serve as a seasonal covered space for gatherings with friends, featuring a sauna in the granary and an attic designated for yoga, meditation and ping-pong contests.

The reconstruction also includes a new building for occasional overnight stays for extended family members and friends. We aimed to design this new addition so that it seamlessly integrates with the entire complex, making it difficult to distinguish at first glance which part is original and which is new.

The original building exudes its purpose, rawness, and pragmatic romance—powerful characteristics that we strive to connect with and further develop using contemporary means. The newly designed elements draw from the aesthetics of industrial materials, including a corrugated metal roof, steel sliding doors and spiral staircase, fiberglass or metal grid panels.

Hledáme posilu do týmu.

Jsme přesvědčeni, že dobrá architektura nevzniká bez poctivé práce na stavební části a detailu. Proto potřebujeme rozšířit kolektiv o šikovného stavebního inženýr*a/ku nebo architekt*a/ku se zkušenostmi s touto částí profese.

Podmínkou je ukončené VŠ vzdělání, dostatečná praxe v oboru (min. 3 roky), dobrá znalost stavařiny a architektonického detailu a zkušenosti ze všech projekčních fází. Dále požadujeme samostatnost a zodpovědnost, preferujeme full-time.

Nabízíme práci na zajímavých úlohách menšího i většího rozsahu, aktuálně pracujeme na projektech od interiérů až po nádraží. Dále pak účast v architektonických soutěžích, úzký přátelský kolektiv a solidní platové ohodnocení úměrné znalostem a zkušenostem.

🥇 We have won our second invited competition! 🥇

The architecture of the existing building comes across as relatively unclear and even complicated. The character of the original house and the combination of two different masses is ambiguous; the nature of the building is predominantly utilitarian, and especially its upper volume, with minimal window openings, evokes an object of technical purpose rather than one with a public mission.

However, this is not necessarily an obstacle—it may actually represent a challenge... The complexity of the task is further emphasized by the problematic location of the house, as this important public building is virtually invisible from any direction.

In our proposal, we aimed to develop and complement the specific character of the original architecture into a new form that clearly communicates and represents the building's purpose. Key aspects of the design include the creation of an absent forecourt with a new piazzeta, the redefinition of the internal layout, and the effort to unify the largely disparate building to make it more prominent and visible.

🖤❤️🤍 Slavíme 3 nominace na Českou cenu za architekturu!

Máme za sebou zábavný červen. Nastupuje nový Stavební zákon, o němž neví mnoho nejspíš ani Ivan Bartoš, takže do práce se šnorchlem a ideálně neodcházet... Když jsme se z těch stohů paré a razítek probrali, zjistili jsme, že tři naše projekty byly nominovány na Českou cenu za architekturu a k tomu nás magazín Architect+ zařadil mezi TOP100 českých ateliérů.

Moc se nám nechce, ale asi budeme muset pracovat dál.

Sídlo vodohospodářské společnosti

Vyzvaná soutěž | 2024

🥇 Vyhráli jsme naší první vyzvanou soutěž! 🥇

Předmětem návrhu je sídlo společnosti, která provozuje vodohospodářská zařízení v krajině. Kromě části pro administrativní a terénní pracovníky je součástí budovy také klientské centrum a konferenční místnost, které slouží pro styk s veřejností a příležitostnou edukační činnost.

Důležitým východiskem našeho přemýšlení o návrhu bylo kromě samotné funkce objektu také jeho umístění. Parcela určená pro výstavbu se nachází na okraji menší obce poblíž Prahy, její sousedství tvoří několik rodinných domků, parcely určené pro budoucí satelitní výstavbu a Billa.

Architektura navrženého objektu je střízlivá a neutrální, předjímá nesourodou podobu svého okolí a svým technicistním charakterem a propojením se zelení odkazuje na specifické aktivity firmy. S ohledem na poslání navrhovaného objektu, tj. nejen provozní, ale i reprezentativní sídlo společnosti určené mimo jiné pro styk s veřejností, jsme se rozhodli objekt na parcele situovat tak, aby umožnil podstatnou část pozemku zpřístupnit i veřejnosti.

Mateřská škola Vimperk

Veřejná soutěž ČKA | 2024

V I M P E R Á K !

Mateřská škola je veřejná instituce, která má být vlídná a otevřená, zároveň však musí pečlivě nakládat s mírou svého soukromí. Společná hala školky je vizuálně i provozně přímo navázaná na předprostor budovy, do kterého se maximálně otevírá. Další části školky, samotné učebny, jsou pak před vnějším světem chráněné. Navržená centrální dispozice poskytuje přehlednost, nenuceně vybízí ke vzájemné komunikaci a je provozně maximálně jednoduchá. Část pro zázemí pedagogů a kuchyňského provozu je pak záměrně odsunuta stranou.

Návrh rozvíjí pavilonové uspořádání, které je však díky centrální dispozici téměř prosté chodeb. Toto schéma umožňuje vtisknout učebnám několik předností, které spatřujeme v orientaci tříd ke dvěma světovým stranám, jejich vizuální přehlednosti, přímé vazbě na zahradu školky a kontakt se společnou halou.

Ačkoliv se pozemek určený pro výstavbu nachází v intravilánu města, bezprostřední okolí není obrazem typického Vimperka. Sportovní areál má svůj jedinečný a specifický charakter, kterému dominuje objekt zimního stadionu. Ten kontrastuje s drobnými objekty skladů, zastřešených tribun a převlékáren, dočasných staveb z plechu, vrat, plotů či sítí... Charakter místa a jeho kvality se pokoušíme propsat i do návrhu školky, aby se tak stala co nejpřirozenější součástí celého areálu.

Rekonstrukce domu v Kutné Hoře / vnitřní okna a nové otvory

Leitmotivem rekonstruovaného řadového domu je točité schodiště, okolo kterého se odehrává vnitřní život.

Díky několika novým zásahům v podobě otvorů z různých místností propojuje jádro celý objekt skrz naskrz a přináší interiéru nové impulzy, které spočívají v nečekaných prostorových vazbách.

Hranici mezi starým a novým se snažíme spíše rozostřovat, než aby na ní bylo upozorňováno.
