0019 - THE URBAN CORNER HOUSE

How can we create a building main facade on a plot that almost has no road face? The answer was to have an edge of the proposed building to overlook the street and then build the residence functionality and morphology around this concept.

We were inspired by "Vitra house" to shape the volume for the top floor ​as this form, not only because it could act as a standalone shape but it also satisfied the client's needs for a more unique and different approach within an urban fabric of sanitized boxes and rectangles.

By retaining the top form in rotation and the ground floor in an orthogonal layout, we organically created interesting areas shaped by the interaction of the two floors themselves - the welcome covered space of the entrance, the covered veranda at the back and inside, the staircase that allows the visitor to feel the connection between these two floors.

FKAT0018 Juliet's House

3-Bedroom Detached Residence in Aradippou, Cyprus

Horizontality on the front versus verticality at the back combined with a special moment. For this project we opted for a subtle and even humble front facade to integrate with the surroundings. However the moment the visitors enter the residence, they are welcomed with the grand atrium of the dining hall to enjoy the volume of the space.

The building massing itself forms a twist that creates a very special moment at the back. The volume on the right that holds the precious spaces of the living room on the ground floor and master bedroom at the top rotates slightly to center itself to the plot and at the same time gives that necessary "squeeze" to create the special moment of the central Juliet balcony.

We selected traditional materiality combined with fair-faced concrete to give the residence a contemporary look.

In this photo: KOURASANIT - Straw collection. An old traditional recipe for plaster made with straw and lime was the inspiration for the collection, which conveys an earthy, handmade aesthetic. We envisioned it, we designed it and now it's finally open!

Our studio is proud to present the new Γλυκαντζιδικο artisan pastry shop, right at the heart of the Protaras commercial street.

The existing arches of the hotel above served as the main inspiration to transform this new space. We integrated it into the existing design language while introducing contemporary touches to celebrate its new use as an artisan local pastry shop.

0028 - ΑΡΧΙΤΕΚΤΟΝΙΚΟΣ ΔΙΑΓΩΝΙΣΜΟΣ «ΜΟΥΣΕΙΟ ΜΑΡΙΟΥ ΤΟΚΑ ΣΤΟ ΔΗΜΟ ΥΨΩΝΑ»

Είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να παρουσιάσουμε την πρόταση μας στον αρχιτεκτονικό διαγωνισμό για το "Μουσείο Μάριου Τόκα" στη Λεμεσό, σε συνεργασία με τους AYK Architects .

Η πρόταση μας αναπτύχθηκε με τη σκέψη πως θα μπορούσε ένα κτίριο να φιλοξενήσει το ασύλληπτο έργο μιας τεράστιας προσωπικότητας. Μεταφράσαμε αυτή την ιδέα ως ένα κτίριο-δοχείο τέχνης και πολιτισμού. Ένα κτίριο που μέσω του χαρακτήρα του θα έχει ως μοναδικό σκοπό να αναδείξει το έργο του πολυτάλαντου συνθέτη και στιχουργού, χωρίς η μορφολογία του να ανταγωνίζεται τον σκοπό αυτό, αλλά να τον συμπληρωνει.
Επιπλέον θέλαμε το κτίριο να προσαρμόζεται στο πυκνό τοπικό αστικό τοπίο, ενώ ταυτόχρονα να αναδεικνύει νέες ιδέες και προοπτικές για το πως μπορεί ένα μουσείο να ενσωματώνει την ιστορία και τον πολιτισμό σε ένα χώρο που εναρμονίζεται με το περιβάλλον του. Η πρόταση μας για το Μουσείο Μάριου Τόκα προτείνει ένα σύγχρονο και προοδευτικό πολιτιστικό χώρο στον οποίο η σύγχρονη αρχιτεκτονική προσέγγιση δημιουργεί μια δυναμική σύζευξη με την ιστορία και την παράδοση του τόπου.
