**Trust in China Sourcing Is Built Before the Purchase Order. 🔋🤝**

Finding a factory in China is easy. Finding the right factory, verifying its capabilities and ensuring it delivers what your business actually needs — that's where experience matters.

In my October 8 post, I shared my experience as a foreign volunteer mediator at Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen.

One important lesson from cross-border trade is that many disputes begin long before a disagreement becomes visible.

They start when:
🔹 Supplier capabilities are not properly verified.
🔹 Technical specifications are interpreted differently.
🔹 Approved samples don't match mass production.
🔹 Warranty terms, payment conditions or delivery responsibilities are unclear.
🔹 Manufacturing changes are made without proper approval.

In the new-energy industry, these gaps can be particularly costly.

🔋 Planning a C&I BESS project? Prepare the right information before requesting quotes.

Asking suppliers only for the price of a 500 kWh or 1 MWh battery is rarely enough to get a meaningful project estimate.

Your C&I BESS quote should consider:

✅ Application and operating objective
✅ Load profile and interval data
✅ Utility tariff and demand charges
✅ Transformer and electrical capacity
✅ Single-line diagram and point of interconnection
✅ Available space and site constraints
✅ PCS, BMS, EMS, HVAC and fire-safety scope
✅ Warranty and degradation assumptions
✅ CAPEX, O&M and commissioning
✅ Delivery schedule and commercial terms

Most importantly, ask every supplier to use the same assumptions and clearly state exclusions.

That makes bids much easier to compare—and helps prevent unexpected project costs later.

🔋 **Buying a C&I BESS? Don't compare warranties by years alone.**

A “10-year warranty” sounds reassuring—but what exactly is guaranteed?

Before signing a BESS contract, check:

✅ Capacity retention / SoH
✅ Energy throughput
✅ Equivalent full cycles
✅ Depth of discharge
✅ Charge & discharge C-rate
✅ Temperature limits
✅ Measurement boundary
✅ Warranty exclusions
✅ Required operating conditions
✅ Maintenance and data requirements
✅ Remedy if guaranteed performance is missed

One of the biggest mistakes is assuming that two “10-year warranties” provide the same protection.

They may not.

The warranty must also match the project's real dispatch profile. A system designed for daily peak shaving can consume its warranted throughput very differently from a system operating only a few times per month.

A grid-connected BESS may require detailed engineering studies to prove that the system will operate safely and remain stable under different network conditions.
