Some of the founding principles behind Monoplan’s foundation was comprehensive and interdisciplinary planning. Today the same principles are represented as milestone for all our projects. One of Monoplans biggest strengths is the ability to translate our client’s wishes into the finest architecture and design. With our international team that consists of 30 employees from more than 12 nations, Monoplan has the opportunity to approach each and every assignment from a wide range of viewpoints, allowing us to turn intricate complex ideas into unique, customized solutions that suit every situation.

A SPACE TO BRING IDEAS TO LIFE

The Monolab is a creative space where our architects and interior designers can build moodboards and explore different ideas through materials. But it is also a place to simply browse, discover something unexpected and find inspiration. This is where first ideas take shape, concepts evolve and projects gradually come to life.

Wood, stone, fabrics, colours, textures and finishes are there to be touched, compared and combined. We work closely with selected manufacturers and partners to keep our material library up to date and ensure the high quality we expect for our projects.

The Monolab is also a space we share with our clients. Seeing a material on screen can only tell part of the story. Here, they can touch and feel different surfaces, experience combinations first-hand and become part of the creative process.

For us, the Monolab is an important part of how we work: a place for experimentation, inspiration and creativity, where design becomes tangible long before a space is built.

AN ICONIC NIGHT IN MUNICH!

What a night! Our INNSiDE by Meliá Elounda in Crete is officially a Winner at the ICONIC AWARDS 2026 in the category Architecture – Transformation.

Lars Schulte and Romanos Gortsios were there to celebrate this special moment for Monoplan and our team. The award ceremony in Munich was a great opportunity to meet people we had already crossed paths with at EXPO REAL, reconnect with familiar faces and get to know the teams behind some of this year’s other award-winning projects.

But alongside architecture, real estate and hospitality, we discovered work from completely different fields and disciplines. A welcome chance to step outside our usual bubble, see what others are creating and return home with some fresh inspiration.

And, of course, it was a special moment to see INNSiDE by Meliá Elounda among the winners. With this project, we had the opportunity to transform an existing resort in Crete and give it a new life. Our team brought architecture, interiors and the Mediterranean setting together to create a hospitality destination with a new identity while building on what was already there.

A project revived. A special place brought back to life. And now award-winning.

Simply ICONIC.

THANK YOU, MUNICH!

Munich was packed. Around 40,000 visitors, seven halls and people from across the entire industry came together for EXPO REAL 2026.

Wolfgang Gallas, Luca Weinmann, Daniel Schneider and Lars Schulte were on site for Monoplan, making the most of these busy days with many valuable conversations and new contacts. We further expanded our network around upcoming hotel and hospitality projects across Europe, while also reconnecting with familiar faces and long-standing partners from the industry.

This mix is what makes EXPO REAL so valuable. It’s not just about what is happening in the market right now, but also about the people behind the projects, the ideas being discussed and the connections that may turn into something new.

And in the middle of all the EXPO REAL buzz, there was one absolute highlight for us: winning an ICONIC AWARD 2026 for our project INNSiDE by Meliá Elounda in Greece. A very special moment for our team and a great reason to celebrate in Munich. Stay tuned, there is more to come!

Thank you to everyone for the open exchanges, new perspectives and exciting conversations. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and seeing where some of these new connections will lead.

RETHINKING PREMIUM SENIOR LIVING

Premium senior living is evolving. Today, independence, community, flexibility, and meaningful experiences matter just as much as comfort and care.

We are proud to have contributed to THE EMBASSIES in Hamburg as a partner in the interior design process, and happy to see the project featured in Monocle.

Developed around the vision of Jan Garde and his co-founder, Henning Weiss, THE EMBASSIES brings together private apartments, club spaces, co-working areas, and hospitality-inspired services in a historic 1909 building. The result is a welcoming environment that connects generations and encourages community.

For us, the project shows how hospitality, living, and wellbeing can come together through thoughtful design that fosters connection, identity, and quality of life.

HOSPITALITY IN THE HEART OF GENEVA

In early 2022, Ruby Hotel Geneva opened its doors in the heart of Geneva, just steps away from Lake Geneva and surrounded by the city’s main shopping streets, Rue de Rhône and Rue du Marché.

Monoplan was appointed to develop the plans for the transformation and repurposing of the former office buildings into Geneva’s first Ruby Hotel. The project brought together three interconnected buildings, including one with a preserved historic façade, creating a dialogue between the city’s architectural heritage and contemporary hospitality.

Following the design language of the Ruby Hotels brand, the interiors combine an urban character with carefully curated details and a warm, laid back atmosphere. While the project shares certain similarities with other Ruby Hotels such as Ruby Coco Hotel & Bar and Ruby Lilly Hotel & Bar, the Geneva location was developed with its own distinct identity inspired by the city and its context.

A STORY WORTH SHARING.

Over 600 years of history, remarkable architecture and a new chapter in hospitality. Our Villa Florhof project in Zurich has quite a story to tell!

The transformation of this historic patrician house into Zurich’s first Lalique boutique hotel was a very special project for our team. Preserving its architectural heritage while giving the building a new purpose required a careful balance between history and contemporary hospitality.

Thank you, Friederike to Baben, for sharing the story behind Villa Florhof, highlighting the architecture and transformation of this extraordinary place.

SOÏ 28 FEATURED IN RAUM & WOHNEN

We were happy to see Soï 28 at the Widder Hotel featured in Raum & Wohnen Magazin.

For Soï 28, Monoplan developed an interior inspired by Asian dining culture, where food is social, vibrant, and meant to be shared.

Counter seats, stools, and benches are intentionally positioned close together. Sitting shoulder to shoulder becomes part of the experience, creating a lively and connected atmosphere inspired by the streets and food culture of Asia.

A key visual element is the bamboo wall painting by Mathias Truniger, developed together with Soda Studios and inspired by the original historic ceiling. It creates a dialogue between the building's heritage and the contemporary Asian-inspired concept.

We are grateful to Raum & Wohnen for featuring the project and celebrating the connection between architecture, interior design, and gastronomy.

A SPACE FOR IDEAS AND EXCHANGE

Our Zurich office is shaped by carefully chosen new furniture that brings comfort, function and character to the space. But for us, an office is about more than how it looks.

How we work together is an important part of Monoplan, and we want our team to enjoy coming to work.The atmosphere of a space plays an important part in that. From the entrance and kitchen to the open office, every area should support the way we work together, exchange ideas and spend our days.

And that also means making room for moments away from the desk. A coffee together, a conversation in the kitchen or simply a short break can be exactly what is needed to return to work with fresh energy and focus!

Materials, shapes, lighting and furniture all contribute to creating an environment that feels warm, clear and welcoming. Because for us, good design is about looking at the whole picture and creating spaces that work for the people who use them every day.

Warum reicht gutes Design allein heute nicht mehr aus?

”Attraktives, zeitgemässes und konzeptionelles Design ist die Voraussetzung, aber es reicht heute nicht mehr. Ein Hotel ist immer auch ein wirtschaftliches Produkt, es muss funktionieren, tragfähig sein und zur Zielgruppe passen. Wenn Gestaltung, Budget, Betrieb und Konzept nicht zusammenpassen, bleibt Design oft nur Oberfläche. Design allein entscheidet nicht über den Erfolg. Es ist die Kombination aus klarer Positionierung, emotionaler Wirkung und wirtschaftlicher Umsetzbarkeit, die ein Projekt wirklich trägt.”

What a great two days at the Independent Hotel Show Munich. Great vibes, inspiring conversations, new connections, and plenty of familiar faces. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and took the time to connect with us!

A special highlight was our Power Breakfast, where we had the pleasure of presenting the Hospitality Venture Club 2026 winner, Nexa.ai , and giving them the stage to share their vision for the future of hotel discovery and booking in an AI-driven world.

A big thank you to Daniel Schneider, Luca Weinmann and Wolfgang Gallas for representing Monoplan in Munich and for making the event such a great experience.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for breakfast and participated in the conversation. It was a great morning with an amazing atmosphere, good coffee, and even better exchange.

And of course, a big thank you to the team behind the Independent Hotel Show Munich for bringing the hospitality community together.
