Let me say the thing a lot of couples are scared to: a child-free wedding is completely okay. 🤍 And no, you don’t owe anyone a long explanation.

I’ve heard every guilt trip — “but they’re family,” “but they’ll be good,” “but who do I leave them with.” And I get it. But wanting one evening where the adults can relax, drink ch*****ne, and dance without worrying about little ones is not selfish. It’s a choice you’re allowed to make.

Here’s the part most people get wrong, though — being firm doesn’t mean being cold. You can hold your boundary and be kind. Address the invitation to the named adults only. Add one warm line, like “we’ve chosen an adults-only celebration.” Tell close family in person, early, so they can plan childcare. Clear, warm, done.

Whether your day is in the mountains, by a lake, or in the city — the weather doesn’t care about your timeline. The couples who stay calm aren’t the lucky ones, they’re the prepared ones. A beautiful backup that actually looks good, blankets or fans ready, a clear decision made early, and someone watching the forecast so it’s never you, in your dress, on the morning of.

And then? Lean into it. Some of the most breathtaking photos I’ve ever seen happened in the rain — clear umbrellas catching the light, a moody sky, a couple laughing under one coat. Rain brings a softness, an intimacy, a drama you simply can’t plan for. It makes the day yours.

Here’s the advice I give almost every couple who flies in to marry here: don’t rush home the morning after. You’ve crossed the world and planned the most beautiful day — so let it become a whole chapter, not just a single moment.

Disappear into the mountains for a few quiet days. A chalet with a view that doesn’t feel real. A spa above the valley. A slow Alpine train ride through the peaks. No schedule, no guests — just the two of you, newly married, soaking it all in.

It’s the easiest upgrade you’ll ever make. Save this for your planning.
