It’s never really about how many hours I spend on a painting.

I love depth, complexity and all those little details that slowly appear through the layers.

Sometimes I can work for hours and from a distance, it looks like almost nothing has changed.

But I know what I’m looking for.

I keep adding, covering, revealing and changing things until the painting gives me that feeling.

Something that makes me want to stop. Look longer. Feel something.

And eventually, all those layers and all that movement have to come together into something I would want to live with every day.

This one isn’t there yet.

But I think we’re getting closer. 💙

From a distance, this painting feels almost quiet.

But the closer you get, the more it opens up.

Colours hiding underneath the blue. Marks you don’t notice at first. Layers, movement, little details appearing everywhere.

And I think that contrast is exactly why I love this piece so much.

Calm doesn’t always mean there’s nothing going on underneath.

Sometimes there’s a whole world there — you just have to come a little closer.
