A 42-year-old hiker in Bad Hofgastein, Austria, fell in the Gadaunerer Gorge and was seriously injured.

He spent the night in difficult terrain. No one knew exactly where he was.

The search continued the following day. Rescuers eventually located him after hearing his calls for help. Search dogs were also involved in the operation.

Finding someone in the mountains can be challenging. Steep terrain, limited visibility and an unknown location can make all the difference.

And even when someone has been found, getting them to safety can be another challenge.

A huge thank you to the mountain rescue teams who keep searching, keep going and do everything they can to bring people home safely. Your dedication, expertise and perseverance deserve our utmost respect.

EVERY CLUE MATTERS.
A fall. A night in the mountains. And a search that depended on finding the right clues.
A 21-year-old hiker fell around 20 metres in the Dachstein area and was seriously injured. Unable to make his way down, he spent the night in the mountains with his Labrador by his side.

During the search, an orange tent spotted from the air helped narrow down the search area. Later, rescuers heard the dog's barking - a sound that ultimately helped them locate the injured hiker.

A powerful reminder that finding someone in difficult terrain is not always straightforward. Sometimes, it takes several clues to piece together the picture.
