Peony roots are shipping soon! 🌸🤎

A little prep goes a long way when it comes to planting your peonies, so here’s what you need to know before those roots arrive:

🤎 Pick your spot. Peonies love sunshine (at least 6 hours a day!) and well-draining soil. They also love to stay put, so choose their forever home wisely.

🤎 Mind the depth. Dig a wide hole, spread your roots out naturally, and position those pink eyes just 1–2 inches below the soil surface. Planting too deep is one of the most common reasons peonies don’t bloom!

🤎 Water & wait. Give your roots a good drink after planting and add a light layer of mulch for winter protection. Then let nature do her thing while those roots settle in underground.

Fall planting is one of the best ways to get your peonies established for the seasons ahead. And trust me, the wait for those blooms is worth it. Every. Single. Year. 🤎🌸

What feels so far away, but is sooner than we think? Peony season.

Fall planting has begun (your roots are shipping towards the end of this week and onwards!), and soon they’ll be tucked into the ground, settling in for our cold prairie months before putting on a show when spring rolls around.

The peony roots we plant this fall will be our spring treasures - and if there’s one thing peonies teach you, it’s that the wait is worth it. Every single year 🤎🤎

I can go on 🤎🌸

My favourite part about my flowers, and my animals, is how well it meshes together (most days 🤣). Morning chores? Sandwiched between garden strolls. Evening chores? Same deal. Sunsets? I’m absolutely looking at my cows AND my flowers.

For as long as I’m physically able, this will be my life. Nothing else I’d rather do, no where else I’d rather live. If I won the lottery? Turn away blind eye to all the extra animals and flowers to see 🤭
