Before August comes to an end, we’re proud to highlight NIC’s sponsorship of public, teen, and family swim sessions at the Inuvik Pool throughout June, July, and August. 🏊🏻‍♀️🌞

Supporting initiatives that promote health, recreation, and community connection is an important part of NIC’s commitment to the communities where we live and work. As summer winds down, we’re grateful for the opportunity to support the Inuvik community and contribute to initiatives that make a positive impact beyond the worksite.

Last month, we were honoured to celebrate this important milestone at the grand opening of the Łutsël K’é 10-Unit Residential Housing Project. NIC is proud to have served as the general contractor and to have contributed to a project that will support the community for years to come.

The dedication, collaboration, and perseverance of everyone involved brought this project to a successful completion. Thank you to all our partners, team members, and community representatives who helped make it possible.

Once again, congratulations to the Łutsël K’é Dene First Nation on this remarkable milestone and the completion of 10 new housing units for the community!

An exciting milestone has been reached on NIC's Kuponya Small Home pilot project for the Yellowknives Dene First Nation (YKDFN)! 🏠

Yesterday, the modular home was successfully transported from NIC's yard to the laydown area in Ndılǫ̀. The next phase will see the home craned onto its permanent foundation, followed by the completion of the mechanical and electrical systems, along with the remaining interior and exterior finishes.

This pilot project is a collaborative effort between Northern Industrial Construction, YKDFN, and Kuponya Innovations which is a student led initiative from Wilfrid Laurier University focused on designing affordable, sustainable, and resilient housing solutions for northern communities.

NIC is proud to be delivering this project on an at-cost basis in support of YKDFN and looks forward to seeing the home completed and occupied.

We were pleased to welcome Member of Parliament Dan Mazier and his team to Yellowknife as part of their discussions with local organizations on federal procurement and maximizing the impact of upcoming investments in the North.

During the visit, NIC team provided a tour of the Yellowknife Lift Station No. 1 project, currently under construction, and shared perspectives on supporting successful infrastructure development across Northern communities.

Steady progress is being made on NIC’s Colville Lake School project. Crews are working through the building’s mechanical connections, including fuel, heating, and water/wastewater services. Electrical work within the facility is finished with inspections and power connection to follow. Installation of communication systems is also in progress, while the remaining deck and accessible ramp work nearing completion.

The project is expected to reach substantial completion in August 2026 and we’re proud to help deliver an improved learning space for students and staff in Colville Lake ahead of the upcoming school year.

A big welcome to our newest team members joining Northern Industrial Construction Ltd.! 🎉

Thomas Ryan joins as Senior Estimator, Megan Richards as Proposal and Pursuits Coordinator, Linus Paterno as Junior Project Coordinator, and Mariah MacIntosh & Emma Leathem as our Summer Interns. Together, they bring valuable expertise, fresh perspectives, and enthusiasm as they support our estimating and operations teams.

Joining our field team are John Shaw, Site Superintendent, providing on-site leadership and overseeing daily project activities, along with Craig Molloy and Sean Fifield, Carpenters, who bring skilled craftsmanship and expertise to our construction projects.

We're excited to have you as part of the NIC family, we wish you every success as you begin this exciting new chapter with us!

While the 2026 Arctic Development Expo was taking place in Inuvik, NT last week, NIC welcomed several distinguished visitors to the Western Arctic Research Centre project. Premier R.J. Simpson, MLA Jay Macdonald, and MLA Caitlin Cleveland toured the site and were given the opportunity to see firsthand the significant progress being made on this important project.

Our NIC crew mobilized on June 1 for the Délı̨nę Supported Living Facility Project and has been making excellent progress.

Work is well underway with the team completing the removal of existing flooring, excavation activities, and starting on replacement of a retaining wall. Crews have also begun sanding the wood-paneled walls and are preparing to start structural repairs to the piles and glulam beams.

We're proud of the dedication, craftsmanship, and commitment our team continues to demonstrate as we help improve and revitalize this important community facility.
