TRAFFIC NOTICE: Lane closures on Main Street September 17th

Please be advised that more work will take place on Thursday, September 17th, on Main Street in the Milton area. The work is needed to prepare for paving and will impact traffic between Chestnut Street and Prospect Street. Please note the following:

➡ Work is planned to run from 7 am to 7 pm. All work is weather-permitting.
➡ the northbound lane (heading out of town) will be closed between Chestnut Street and Prospect Street.
➡ Northbound traffic will be detoured through Chestnut, Brunswick, and Prospect during this time.
➡ The southbound lane will remain open.
➡ Traffic control will be in place. Please expect delays traveling through the area.

Another update will be issued for traffic impacts on Friday, and into next week.

Traffic & Transit Notice: Pleasant Street Closure and Transit Route Change on Thursday, September 17th

On Thursday, September 17th, Aberdeen Paving will perform pavement milling on Pleasant Street to prepare for paving a section between Forest Street and Cliff Street. This will affect traffic and transit riders.

Drivers, please note:

➡ Pleasant Street will be closed from Parade Street to Albert Street from approximately 10:30 am until 4 pm. Detours will be set up, and traffic control will be in place.
➡ local traffic will be permitted, but those wishing to access businesses in that section of Pleasant Street are asked to please use Waverly Street, from Clements Avenue.

Transit Riders, please note:

➡ during this closure there will be no stop at Pleasant Street at the Korean War Memorial. The bus will travel down Parade Street, cross Clements Avenue to Forest Street, and then continue on its route.
➡ please use an alternate stop, or flag down the bus in a safe location along the temporary route.

Please follow all traffic signs and laws. Slow down in the affected area and take extra precautions.

Please be advised that the traffic lights at the intersection of Main Street and Forest Street are down again. The intersection has again been setup as a 4-way stop with stops signs in place. We hope to have the lights fully repaired soon, and thank everyone for their patience.

TRAFFIC NOTICE: Traffic Lights at Intersection of Starrs Road and Hardscratch Road

On Tuesday, September 15th, the traffic lights at the intersection of Starrs Road and Hardscratch/Haley Road will need to be shut off for a period of time to allow a contractor (Bell/Aliant) to complete new line installation work. To complete the work, the contractor must shut off the lights beginning at 10 am. Traffic control will be in place to direct vehicles. The duration of the work is not known at this time.

If you are travelling through the area, please expect delays.
Please follow all traffic signs and laws.
Slow down in the affected area and take extra precautions.

Please be advised that more curb work is planned, beginning as early as Tuesday, September 15th, on Main Street in the Milton area. The work is needed to prepare for paving and will impact traffic between Prospect Street and Hibernia Street. Please note the following:

➡ Work is planned to run from 7 am to 7 pm from Tuesday, September 15th, to end of day Wednesday, September 16th. All work is weather-permitting.
➡ the northbound lane (heading out of town) will be closed between Hibernia Street and Prospect Street.
➡ Northbound traffic will be detoured through Hibernia, Brunswick, and Prospect during this time.
➡ the southbound lane will remain open.
➡ Traffic control will be in place. Please expect delays traveling through the area.

Asphalt milling will begin later in the week, leading to eventual paving next week. Another update will be issued for traffic impacts.

FINAL Reminder: Community Grants Deadline is September 15th Updated

The fall deadline to apply for an operational grant from the Town of Yarmouth is tomorrow - Tuesday, September 15th. To be considered, all applications must be submitted in accordance with the Town's Grant Policy Statement.

IMPORTANT: Incomplete applications will not be considered.

You can review the Grant Policy and download an application from our website at: http://townofyarmouth.ca/community-grants.html

Paper application forms are also available at Yarmouth Town Hall, 400 Main Street.
