Gimli outdoor living, done right. 🌊

Designed and built by Blue Chip Decks, this custom outdoor space brings a lot together into one clean design: Trex Company decking, a timber-frame pergola, outdoor kitchen, and massive built-in waterproof storage drawers underneath the deck.

Those drawers are one of our favourite details. They turn otherwise wasted space beneath the deck into a huge amount of dry, easily accessible storage.

From the initial design to the finished build, this entire backyard was planned around making the space look great, work better, and stand up to Manitoba weather.

🚁 Our drone isn’t just for taking cool project footage. It’s one of the tools we use to create incredibly accurate backyard designs.

We use high-resolution drone imagery along with a 5-foot reference ruler to map the entire project from directly above.

This allows us to accurately capture the existing backyard, including structures, property lines, angles, curves, contours, patios, pools, landscaping, and other elements that need to be considered in the design.

We then bring that drone imagery directly into our design software as an overlay.

The goal is to make sure everything in the backyard is accounted for, so the finished design becomes an extremely accurate representation of the client’s actual property.

This is especially valuable on complicated projects with unusual angles, curves, existing structures, or features we need to perfectly design with and around.

Instead of designing from rough measurements and guessing how everything fits together, we’re designing directly over a scaled image of the actual backyard.

📐 Better measurements.
🚁 Better information.
🏡 A design that actually represents the space we’re going to build in.

It's the little things that make a project go from great to extraordinary. We installed a massive deck for this property, but what really ties it together is the incorporated landscaping.
The front needed to be releveled for both the pathway and the retaining wall. We also tied it in with the new deck to have a pathway leading to the staircase.
