One of the cooler projects we had the opportunity to work on this season.

We teamed up with Home Strong Construction on this one, bringing two different sides of the industry together on the same property.

Home Strong took care of the major construction elements, including a massive new fence, rolling gate, deck and stairs.

Our team came in on the landscaping side with a new paver patio, retaining garden wall, soil application and regrading, along with a handful of smaller finishing touches throughout the property.

Different scopes, different specialties, but everything had to come together as one finished space.

That's what made this project such a cool one for us.

They did their thing.
We did our thing.

Reputation Wears Work Boots

Every project starts with a crew.

Before the equipment starts, before the first shovel hits the ground, before the first paver is laid, there are people behind it all.

One thing I've learned as an owner is that culture isn't built by accident.

It's built through respect, accountability, trust, and surrounding yourself with people who genuinely care about their craft.

Good labour is becoming harder and harder to find, which makes me even more grateful for the people on this team. They show up every day, work hard, look out for one another, and take genuine pride in what they build.

At Driedger Landscaping, we don't just build landscapes.

We're building a culture where people enjoy coming to work, continue developing their craft, and leave every project knowing they gave it everything they had.

Small Space. Big Challenge. Beautiful Result.

Last week, the crew wrapped up another project that perfectly represents what SSS (Small Space Specialists) is all about.

At first glance, it looks like a clean patio. Behind the scenes? This one was an absolute puzzle.

✔️ Tight access from start to finish.
✔️ No machine access, everything was completed by hand.
✔️ Limited space for material storage.
✔️ Active condo community, meaning constant coordination with deliveries, access, and keeping the area clean and safe throughout the project.

Projects like this demand more than hard work.. They demand planning, communication, and teamwork.

One detail I'm especially proud of on this build is the in-laid border. Traditionally, we lean toward a more subtle border that blends into the overall design. This time, the homeowner was open to trying something different, so we introduced a contrasting Barkman paver to create a modern in-laid border while still keeping the patio's rustic character. It's a small design change that gives the entire space a unique look without overwhelming it.

A huge shoutout to Jenny and the crew. They absolutely knocked this one out of the park. 👏

As always, every product used on this project was supplied through Barkman Concrete, and we're incredibly happy with how everything came together.

RESPECT OVER RIVALRY

One thing I've learned over the years is that this industry can be incredibly competitive, but it doesn't always have to be.

This week, I had the opportunity to spend a day alongside the crew at JJ Excavation & Leveling Ltd. on one of their projects.

JJ reached out and asked if Driedger Landscaping could lend a hand with a Turf Installation, so I grabbed one of my top guys and headed over.

The result was a great day of collaboration, problem solving, knowledge sharing, and getting another beautiful project across the finish line.

I firmly believe that good contractors should support good contractors. There is enough work out there for everyone, and when skilled people come together, great things happen.

A huge thank you to JJ Excavation & Leveling Ltd. for having us out. We appreciate the trust and the opportunity to work alongside your crew. It was great spending the day with you guys and helping bring another project to completion.

At the end of the day, it's not about who gets the credit. It's about helping each other grow, supporting fellow tradespeople, and delivering the best possible result for the customer.

Too many people treat this industry like a battlefield. I've always believed that if good people work together, share knowledge, and support one another, everyone wins. Contractors, crews, and most importantly, the customer.

That's the kind of industry I want to be a part of. One built on respect, trust, strong relationships, and a willingness to lend a hand when a fellow contractor calls.

Here's to good people, strong partnerships, and proving that teamwork will always accomplish more than competition ever will.

⚠️ Service Update ⚠️

I wanted to extend my sincerest apologies to any customers who may have been trying to contact Driedger Landscaping over the past 24 hours.

Like many Manitobans, we were significantly impacted by the severe storm and tornado activity that moved through the province. Between widespread power outages and internet disruptions, our operations and communications were temporarily brought to a standstill.

The good news is that power and internet service have now been restored, and we're officially back up and running. (24 Hours Later)

If you've recently called, emailed, messaged, or are awaiting a response, please know that I'm working through everything as quickly as possible and handling all requests accordingly. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Most importantly, I hope everyone stayed safe and avoided any serious damage throughout the storm. (My Truck took some damage haha)

Thank you again for your continued support. The season rolls on, and we'll be back to doing what we do best.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize someone who has become an absolute legend behind the scenes at Driedger Landscaping.

Hymie Ali from Hymies Hauling has been nothing short of incredible to work with. Time and time again, he goes above and beyond for our crew. Whether it's squeezing us into an already busy schedule, helping us navigate unexpected challenges, or showing up when we need him most, he's always there.

In this industry, reliable partnerships are worth their weight in gold. We've built a fantastic working relationship based on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to taking care of our customers.

The reality is that while our crew may be the ones installing patios, grading yards, and building landscapes, none of it happens without the people working behind the scenes to keep us moving forward. To my crew, Hymie isn't just our hauling contractor, he's a hero. When the boys know Hymie's coming, they know things are about to get handled. He's earned that reputation through hard work, reliability, and always finding a way to get the job done.

Legends are hard to come by in this industry, but Hymie has certainly earned that title.

📸 Introducing the Driedger Landscaping Instagram Page!

Over the last year, many of you have followed our journey through Facebook as we've continued to grow, refine our systems, and build some incredible projects throughout Winnipeg.

What many people don't see is the day-to-day life from the crew's perspective.

That's where Instagram comes in.

A special shout-out goes to our Foreman. Jenny Neufeld, who took the initiative and got our Instagram page up and running. While I handle most of the side of things, Jenny has taken ownership of documenting life in the field, project progress, behind-the-scenes moments, and the reality of what it takes to build great landscapes.

For those who have worked with us, there's a good chance you've already met Jenny on-site. She started with Driedger Landscaping as a labourer and quickly earned her way into a leadership role through hard work, consistency, and an incredible commitment to both her crew and the quality of our work. She's the type of person who never asks others to do something she isn't willing to do herself, and that attitude has earned a tremendous amount of respect from both our team and our clients.

As many of you know, we've recently launched our Small Space Specialists (SSS) system and have been deep into some challenging projects this season. Tight access, hand-work only, no shortcuts, exactly the type of projects that helped shape who we are as a company.

It's also been exciting to see our Priority Zone (PZ) system working exactly as intended, allowing us to focus heavily on the St. James area while continuing to provide efficient scheduling and service to our clients.

SSS - Small Space Specialists.

Over the past few years, we’ve slowly built several core principles that shape how we operate as a company. SSS is one of the biggest.

At Driedger Landscaping, we believe smaller residential spaces deserve the same level of craftsmanship, planning, communication, and attention to detail as large-scale projects.

Some of the most meaningful transformations don’t happen on massive commercial properties, they happen in the everyday spaces people actually live in. Front entrances. Backyard corners. Walkways. Patios. Drainage improvements. The spaces homeowners see and use every single day.

SSS isn’t a promotion or a marketing campaign. It’s a company principle. A reminder that no project should ever feel overlooked simply because it’s smaller in scale.

As we continue to grow, this mindset will remain a major part of the foundation we’re building Driedger Landscaping on.
