That’s why a sump pit and pump can be so important:

✅ Foundation drains, often called weeping tile, collect water and direct it into the pit.
✅ As the pit fills, a float switch activates the pump.
✅ The pump sends that water outside, away from your foundation.

When foundation drainage can’t carry water away by gravity, the pump provides a way out, helping reduce the risk of basement flooding.

The pit collects. The pump removes. Both need to work together.
