5 Non-Negotiables for a Thriving Perennial Garden 🌱

Thinking about establishing a perennial garden in Manitoba? As a sustainable landscaper, these are my absolute five non-negotiables for success:

1) Eradicate invasive weeds and ground cover before you start.

2) Amend your existing soil, if you have clay, mix in cocoa fiber and worm castings.

3) Choose perennials that play well with others, look for clump-forming plants instead of spreading ones for an intentional look.

4) Commit to regular watering, it is crucial for helping plants establish so they can become low-maintenance by year three.

5) Keep up with maintenance, especially during the first two to three years, make sure to pull those weeds so your new plants have the space they need to grow!
