Have some empty planters you just didn't get around to planting?

It's not too late! Lacoste Garden Centre grows large mid season annuals and they have some nice sale stuff left too!

These are being planted Monday and should last into fall. Every yard deserves a pop of colour to add some joy! Even if it's just for a few months.

I'll post these guys planted up on Monday. Stay tuned!

This project was a bed that was taken over by grass, vetch and other weeds. This was 4.5 hours of work with 5 of us.

We use a fork to loosen the soil then dig all the roots out by hand. We also split and moved a few things in the bed. Next step is 4 inches of rough mulch to help keep the weeds at bay.

These are always satisfying transformations for us and the owner.

As my week of holidays wraps up I'm enjoying making some arrangements with flowers from my cut garden.

Quick tip...making a grid with clear florist tape over the top of your vase makes arranging much easier.

Blooms of the week in my yard...

Picked the first batch of beans. 3 different varieties are starting to produce.

Not pictured are the zucchini. We have had several already.

The raspberries trying producing a few weeks ago. It's not much but considering I moved them in the fall, I'm happy.

I've also been cutting flowers from my cut flower garden for several weeks now. It's so nice to have fresh bouquets! I had to add morr support for the scabiosa. So tall!

Then my daylilies are starting. My collection used to be all together but I'm liking them spread out now. The raspberries took their place.

All in all the garden is doing great! Can't wait for my tomatoes to start!

Today was a big project! A complete front yard makeover.

The job included removing sod with a sod cutting machine, removing the large ninebark and all the false spirea. We also had to remove surprise landscape fabric. That took a while with all the crazy roots from the false spirea and grasses.

Finally we added a yard of soil, lots of new perennials and shrubs and then finally mulch. It was a challenging day with downpours then heat but we made it through.

The homeowners are so happy with all the sun that now comes in their front window. And I think this house is too cute to hide. Now it gets to shine!

We do spaces of all sizes!

Here is a small native prairie garden. It was planted several years ago but had grown in too much.

We came in and started with weeding. Then we dug out most of the plants, sorted through them and replanted. We planted taller things along the outside edges and made sure to have a clear path through the garden.

A little water and time and these plants should settle back in nicely. It will need a top up of the mulch as well as it has broken down over time.

Bonus was that we found monarch caterpillars as we worked!

First year of my cut flower garden and I'm learning! All of these flowers were started from seed in the winter.

I have learned that you need to set up supports early on or you get crooked stems.

I have also learned that you need to keep cutting so you get more and I'm learning when each variety is ready to cut.

Not sure if some of the snapdragons I planted were a mini variety or if I need to do something to make them taller.

Flower arrangements coming soon! For now they are conditioning.

My new Desert Planters arrived! These are the Villa 24 in pink granite.

Planning me shopped for the plants for the planters and had a plan. Fun me bought anything that caught my attention for the bed. The result... a lovely clash of colours!

Also notice my new Saucer Magnolia in the bed. We'll see if it will bloom for me. It's zone 4 so a little bit of an experiment. That's gardening. Lots of trying new things.
