Everybody thinks a business owner is rich... they see the trucks, equipment, employees, jobs coming in and think you’ve made it. What they dont see is the part that damn near breaks you. They dont see you laying in bed at 2am staring at the ceiling because payroll is Friday and customers still havent paid. They dont see you moving money around just to keep everything alive while floating money to builders... $50k $100k $200k... 30-60-90 days interest free. They dont see everybody else getting a paycheck while you quietly decide yours can wait another week. They dont see the loans, taxes, the equipment that breaks at the worst possible time, or the constant fear that ONE bad month can undo years of work. They dont see how many trips to the zoo you miss, how your kids are suddenly grown and you feel like you missed most of it, how many weekends you give up, how many times youre physically with your family but your mind is 100 miles away. They dont see you sitting in the truck before you walk in the front door because you know your family deserves the best version of you, but some days theres barely anything left. And the craziest part is, you cant complain because you built it... you asked for it, and people depend on you, so you swallow the stress, answer the phone, make payroll, fix the problem and show back up tomorrow. Owning a business can give you a life most people dream about, but sometimes it takes pieces of you most people will never understand.
