We fixed a botched job, just in time for the holidays 🎄

Our client came to us in need of a solution to a problem that had been bugging them for years. They had their new home built a few years back, but to their dismay found the woodwork in the stair case was a disaster. The job was completely botched, the stain was coming off from basic use on the hand rail. It was inconsistent and was never even finished.

When we arrived to take a look, we noticed right away the wood was never varnished. Also, the application of the stain was botched. There was way too much stain. The combination of too much stain and no varnish, led to the problem of the stain coming right off in no time.

Our solution was simple, but complicated to execute. We removed the old stain with st*****rs and a whole lot of sanding, and we mean a whole lot! Removing the stain in the nooks and cranny's was by far the most challenging part of the fix.

But once we removed the stain and were close to the original wood. We could start finishing it, the correct way! We color matched a wiping stain to match the flooring. Applied the correct amount of stain. Let it dry for over 1 week, before applying 3 coats of Verethane Diamond wood finish to seal the wood and protect it for years to come.

Even a botched job like this one can be fixed. Now the client can love their wood again, and show it off to friends and family over the holidays.

Tuesday Tip!

Tape! I used to think all tapes were the same. Boy was I ever wrong. If you buy the wrong tape for the situation at hand, you can turn a money making project into a disaster for you and the customer.

Frog Tape is my personal favorite. It comes in Yellow, Green, Blue and Orange. The colors coordinate with different levels of adhesion. Make sure to read the packaging as it tells you (warns you) exactly what the Tape is intended for.
