Additions and Renovations. Adding an addition or renovating your current home is often more cost effective than purchasing a new home, especially in today’s market. Adding a new floor, or expanding an existing floor is determined by the zoning requirements of your lot and the structural components of your existing home.
Additional Dwelling Units (ADU). ADU’s are quickly becoming a common addition to many homes in the Windsor/Essex region and beyond. These are legal secondary units that are typically found in the basement of existing homes and in existing accessory buildings. ADU’s have minimum ceiling heights and fire rating requirements when located in basements; contact us today to see if your home meets the minimum requirements for an ADU.
Zoning Review. Each municipality has a zoning bylaw that states maximum lot coverage, minimum building setbacks and building height, among others. A zoning review is a key component for any project as it sets the buildable area for the lot. Once this is established, we can layout the footprint of the home based on the lot. This is a tool used by developers to access whether to purchase a specific lot and can be used as homeowners to understand how large of an addition they can build.
