Hi, my name is Christian Stannard. I’m the owner of Maple Leaf Outdoor Services.
Over the past five years, I estimate that our company has removed somewhere between 650 and 1,300 plants, bushes, and trees. While many of those removals were necessary, I believe we have a responsibility to create more than we remove.
That’s why Maple Leaf Outdoor Services is making a permanent commitment:
For every bush or tree we remove, we will plant or fund the planting of five new trees.
Those trees will not necessarily be planted on the same property—or even planted directly by our crew. They may be planted through customer projects, community initiatives, donations, sponsorships, or partnerships with reputable tree-planting organizations.
Every tree will be accounted for. When our crew plants trees, we’ll document them. When we sponsor or fund tree planting elsewhere, we’ll retain and share proof of that contribution. Whether through photographs, videos, receipts, certificates, or yearly updates, we will track our progress publicly.
We will also work toward addressing our estimated historical impact. Based on our estimate of 650 to 1,300 removals over the past five years, our long-term target will begin with planting or funding between 3,250 and 6,500 new trees.
This is one small initiative, but it will remain part of Maple Leaf Outdoor Services for the life of the company. Years from now, I want us to be able to look at the numbers honestly and say that although our work required us to remove thousands of plants and trees, we planted hundreds of thousands more.
We don’t simply want to maintain outdoor spaces. We want to leave our communities greener than we found them.
Five planted for every one removed. That is our commitment.
