I was recently asked if I was making any money with my wood working and was there much time involved. Well my honest answer was I don't really know because for me it's just a hobby so I don't count my time or keep track of it, or the gas cost to get the material, or electrical costs, tool purchase or repair, etc. Plus all the things I buy like the feet, Canada pins, rags, sandpaper, resin etc.
I am also lucky to have a couple stores that sell my products and they also get a much deserved percentage of sales. Without venues like these stores, selling would involve much more work. So I will add a special thanks to Our Mother's Keepers and Parker's General Store.
I do think it would be a very tough market to make a living doing this and I don't think there are many crafters making much money. It's more of a labour of love and just a chance to be creative . To give you a better idea of the time involved have a look at the process to make 5 charcuterie boards.
