In the City of Whitehorse, potential long-term rental dwellings on Airbnb are estimated to be fewer than 50 in total, or less than 0.3% of all homes.

Together, we are proud to support Yukon First Nation and Indigenous families with temporary housing supports for several days, weeks, or months, until permanent housing can be found.

The areas of focus include:
🔹Addressing homelessness and housing insecurity
🔹Providing refuge for those experiencing intimate partner violence
🔹Facilitating medical travel assistance for expectant families from Yukon communities
🔹Provisionally housing individuals who return from addictions treatment out of Territory

A recent StatsCan study highlights that short-term rentals (STRs) are not significantly impacting the long-term rental market. As CMHC Deputy Chief Economist Aled ab Iorwerth notes, "The data suggest that STRs are not a pivotal factor."
