Community Call for Assistance Helping an Elderly Whitby Couple Stay Safely in Their Home
GreenFront is currently assisting an elderly couple in their late 80s living in Whitby, whose mobility challenges have caused their property to fall into severe disrepair. We’ve stepped in to restore the exterior grounds including clearing w**ds that had grown up to five feet tall but there are critical areas of their home that require help beyond our scope.
We are looking for a local handyman, contractor, or community‑minded business willing to volunteer some time to help this Whitby couple remain safely in their home.

Their Story Why We’re Asking for Help
We first met this couple during a routine property assessment in Whitby. The moment we arrived, it was clear something was very wrong. Large sections of the yard were overtaken by towering w**ds, debris had accumulated, and the home’s exterior showed signs of neglect that didn’t match the couple’s character or intentions.
They explained that they had hired a lawn care company earlier in the season. That company cut only the grass, ignored the severe w**d growth, took their payment, and disappeared leaving them with a worsening situation and no ability to fix it themselves.
After hearing this, GreenFront immediately volunteered to help. As we worked, we learned the couple has significant mobility issues, making even basic home maintenance impossible. They are kind, proud people who simply need a hand to keep their home from falling apart around them.
Where We Need Additional Support
While GreenFront is handling the exterior cleanup, several urgent tasks remain:
Gutter cleaning and repair
One gutter is fully blocked, causing rainwater to backflow into a window and leak into the home during storms.
Fence painting
Their fence is deteriorating and needs a fresh coat to prevent further damage.
Interior paint touch‑ups
A few areas inside the home require basic paint work to maintain safe, livable conditions.
These are small tasks for the right person but life‑changing for this couple.
