In Swahili, Baraza means “the porch”—a place where people gather to share stories and discuss important issues. At Baraza Boutique, we’ve built a platform that celebrates this spirit by offering high-quality, handmade baskets crafted by Rwandan weavers.

As a proud Afrophile, this has been my lifelong dream. It brings me immense joy to support Rwandan women and children—not just financially, but emotionally—as they journey toward prosperity.

Our work is rooted in Gashora, Southeastern Rwanda, where our non-profit arm, Building Bridges with Rwanda, has partnered with COVAGA weavers for over 17 years. Together, we’ve transformed the invasive water hyacinth—once a threat to local lakes—into a powerful renewable resource. Its roots fertilize the soil, its leaves feed livestock, and its stems are skilfully woven into the stunning baskets you see in our shop.

Now more than ever, it matters where we spend our money. When you support COVAGA weavers, you’re investing in families, equity, and sustainable community development.
