ποΈπΎ Future Builders Visit the New Shelter! πΎποΈ
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from the Weyburn Comprehensive School Drafting 20 and Drafting 30 classes to our new shelter construction site!
These elective courses teach students the fundamentals of design, with Drafting 20 focusing on architectural design and Drafting 30 focusing on mechanical design. As part of an annual initiative led by teacher Colton Lund and Brandon Schatz, P. Tech., students are given the opportunity to tour active construction projects and see firsthand how designs become reality.
Students were provided with floor plans and encouraged to explore the building, identify rooms and layouts, and ask questions about the design and construction process. Brandon shared insights into the architectural and engineering industry, including career paths and educational opportunities, while Kevin discussed the importance of planning and organization in construction projects to avoid issues and cost overruns.
We love seeing local students engage with real-world projects and explore potential future careers. Thank you to everyone involved in making this learning opportunity possible, and we hope the students enjoyed getting a behind-the-scenes look at the future home of the Weyburn Humane Society! πΆπ±π
