So, what actually goes into a professional furniture refinish?

1. ASSESSMENT
We inspect the piece to determine its condition, construction, existing finish, and what preparation or repairs may be required.

2. PREPARATION
Cleaning, de-glossing, sanding, stripping and proper surface preparation create the foundation for a quality finish.

3. REPAIRS
Loose joints, damaged areas, hardware issues and other necessary repairs are addressed before finishing whenever possible.

4. MULTIPLE COATS & FINISHING
A luxury finish takes time. Primer and paint are applied in multiple coats, allowing each coat to fully dry before the next is applied. Between coats, the surface is carefully sanded to refine the finish, smooth imperfections and create the proper foundation for the next layer.

5. PROTECTIVE SEALING
Once the colour and finish are perfected, multiple coats of protective sealer are applied. Each coat is allowed to fully dry and is carefully sanded between coats when required to create a smooth, durable and beautifully finished surface.

6. CURING
The job isn't finished the moment the last coat is applied. Proper curing time is an important part of the process and allows the finish to reach its intended durability.
