💧 Poly B Water Line Replacement – Buckerfield’s, Vernon

Another successful Poly B water line replacement completed for Buckerfield’s in Vernon.

For generations, Buckerfield’s has been a trusted destination for farming, ranching, pet, garden, and home supplies throughout the Okanagan. We were proud to upgrade their aging Poly B water line with a reliable new water service built for long-term performance.

As you’ll see in the video, we also installed clean sand around the new water line before backfilling. This is an important step that helps protect the pipe from rocks and sharp debris, reducing the risk of damage over time and ensuring the installation lasts for years to come.

Here at Taypex, we know one of the biggest concerns homeowners have during a septic-to-sewer conversion is their yard getting destroyed. That’s why we take a careful approach from start to finish.

In these photos, you can see the crew trenching from the home toward the city connection point while doing their best to minimize disruption to the landscaping, garden beds, and lawn. Soil is kept organized on tarps to help protect the grass and make cleanup easier once the job is complete. The mini excavator allows for a more precise dig instead of tearing up the entire yard with large equipment.

That said, excavation work can be unpredictable. Underground conditions, tight access, roots, existing utilities, weather, and pipe depth can sometimes make it impossible to leave everything untouched. While things don’t always go perfectly, we truly do our best to treat every property like it’s our own and keep disruption to a minimum wherever possible.

Once the trench is opened, the old septic line is disconnected and new sewer piping is installed with the proper grade so waste flows correctly into the municipal sewer system. Every connection, depth, and slope matters — this isn’t just digging a trench, it’s making sure the system works properly for years to come.

A lot of people only see the hole in the yard, but behind that is careful planning, machine work, hand digging around existing landscaping/utilities, pipe installation, testing, inspections, and then restoring everything as neatly as possible afterward.

Dirty work, tight spaces, long days — but worth it to give homeowners a reliable sewer connection while respecting their property along the way. ⚒️

That’s life and plumbing honestly.You can’t let every hard day break you. Sometimes you’ve just gotta laugh, let it roll off your shoulders, and keep moving forward.

Like the song says… maybe the perfect match was there the whole time.Kinda like finally finding the leak after tearing half the wall apart. 🤝

Part 2 🚻

A lot of people see an exposed P-trap under an accessible sink and think it was done that way to “save space” or because it wasn’t finished yet — but there’s actually a reason behind it.

In commercial and accessible washrooms, wheelchair clearance underneath the lav is extremely important. The plumbing has to be laid out in a way that allows proper knee and toe clearance so someone using a wheelchair can comfortably and safely access the sink.

That means every inch matters:
• trap placement
• water line routing
• sink height
• wall clearance
• overall rough-in layout

For plumbers, this is where clean planning and rough-in accuracy matter. You’re not just making it work — you’re building around accessibility requirements while still keeping the system serviceable and functional.

Good commercial plumbing is about more than appearance. It’s about making spaces usable for everybody. 👊🏼
