Our client purchased a 36,000ft² single storey industrial building with a roof height of 20’-0” and wanted to increase the height of the building to 30’-0” to accommodate their industrial process equipment and add a second-floor office space. The original building was constructed of conventional steel framing with masonry infill around the exterior. A plan was devised with the contractor (FEDtech Construction Corp), a specialty roof raising company (Rooflifters) and Witzel Dyce Engineering to shore and raise the roof, brace the existing structure, and provide new structure to support the raised roof at its new elevation. After the roof was raised and the structure complete, the space was renovated, and the second floor installed.
