MCH Group Inc, previously known as Maisons Chicoine Homes, incorporated in 2012. The company was started by two self-made brothers, Jake and Ben, who started working in the construction industry at the age of 16 and taught themselves building science and the importance of building for a purpose. MCH was born out of a determination and passion to build energy efficient structures for generations to

come and high quality craftsmanship. Their sister Karina, joined them in 2015 as financial manager. MCH is now a well-established design-build firm located in the heart of the Gatineau Hills in Eastern Canada, in the province of Quebec. The company is composed of highly skilled carpenters, designers, and innovative thinkers. MCH has partnered with leading architects such as Douglas Cardinal from Canada, Bjarke Ingels Group from Denmark and more.

Located overlooking the beaches of the Ottawa River near Sheenboro, QC, this residence was conceived as a resilient, low-maintenance retreat.

Through a collaborative design process with the clients, an L-shaped configuration was developed to clearly separate sleeping and living areas while creating a nestled outdoor living area.

To meet performance and water management goals, we combined a traditional pitched roof with a prefabricated structure using a hybrid system. Factory-built walls were topped with a site-built truss roof, fully coordinated in 3D before construction.
The result is a highly efficient, carefully detailed home that responds directly to its site and our clients' needs.

Située face aux plages de la rivière des Outaouais, près de Sheenboro, QC, cette résidence a été conçue comme un refuge pour durer et nécessitant peu d’entretien.

À travers une collaboration avec les clients, une configuration en L a été développée afin de séparer clairement les espaces de nuit et de vie, tout en créant un espace de vie extérieur protégé et intime.

Afin de répondre aux objectifs de performance et de gestion de l’eau, nous avons combiné un toit traditionnel à deux versants avec une structure préfabriquée dans le cadre d’un système hybride. Des murs fabriqués en usine ont été surmontés d’une charpente de toit réalisée sur site, entièrement coordonnée en 3D avant la construction.
Le résultat est une maison hautement efficace, soigneusement détaillée, qui répond directement à son site et aux besoins de nos clients.

We are constantly striving to meet our clients’ needs while also adapting to current environmental requirements.

That is why we worked in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation-Forestry on the expansion project of our Rippon prefabrication plant in 2025. This initiative allowed us to showcase an innovative hybrid construction approach combining mass timber and light framing.

This collaboration validated the technical and economic feasibility of an industrialized hybrid construction system. It also highlights the benefits of bio-based materials, such as wood fibre and h**p insulation, in improving thermal performance and reducing environmental impact. Finally, it confirms the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions achieved by using wood instead of traditional steel structures.

Nous cherchons toujours à répondre aux besoins de nos clients, mais aussi à s'adapter aux exigences environnementales actuelles.

C'est pourquoi nous avons travaillé en collaboration avec le Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts sur le projet d’agrandissement de notre usine de préfabrication de Rippon en 2025. Cette initiative nous a permis de mettre de l'avant une approche de construction hybride innovante combinant du bois massif et une ossature légère.

Cette collaboration a permis de valider la faisabilité technique et économique d’un système de construction hybride industrialisé. Elle met aussi en évidence les bénéfices des matériaux biosourcés, comme la fibre de bois et la laine de chanvre, pour améliorer la performance thermique et réduire l’impact environnemental. Enfin, elle confirme la baisse des émissions de GES grâce à l’utilisation du bois plutôt que de l’acier traditionnel.

We had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from NRCan and National Defence Canada to our Ripon facility for a day of discussions, collaboration, and a full tour of our operations.

NRCan is focused on advancing better building practices in Canada through research, testing, and guidance. They reached out after learning about our building systems and wanted to better understand market realities, including trends and cost considerations, to ensure their recommendations remain practical and applicable.
National Defence Canada joined the visit to explore housing solutions for remote locations and defence projects, with a focus on modular systems, durability, and performance in extreme climates.

In the afternoon, we also met with NRC (National Research Council Canada) to discuss a potential research project aimed at advancing our prefabricated bio-based construction system, including work on connection details between load-bearing and curtain wall systems with mass timber components.

A productive exchange focused on advancing better building solutions in Canada.

NEW PROJECT
We are proud to be part of the Bassin Louise project, which will host one of the largest floating saunas in the world, in the heart of Old Québec.

In collaboration with APPAREIL architecture, this 3,500-square-foot project is set to open in the fall of 2026. This major development aims to revitalize tourism through an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable wellness offering that highlights the site while creating a unique experience for visitors.

Our team is already hard at work bringing this project to life through an approach that allows a large portion of the components to be prefabricated in our facilities, making on-site implementation easier and faster, while reducing timelines and the risk of unforeseen issues.

NOUVEAU PROJET
Nous sommes fiers de participer au projet du Bassin Louise, qui accueillera l’un des plus grands saunas flottants au monde, en plein cœur du Vieux-Québec.

En collaboration avec Appareil Architecture, ce projet de 3 500 pieds carrés verra le jour à l’automne 2026. Ce projet d’envergure a pour mission de revitaliser le tourisme grâce à une offre bien-être innovante, rassembleuse et durable, qui met en valeur le site tout en créant une expérience unique pour les visiteurs.

Notre équipe est déjà au travail afin de faire naître ce projet à travers une approche qui permet de préfabriquer une grande partie des éléments dans nos installations, ce qui facilite et accélère la mise en œuvre sur site, tout en réduisant les délais et les risques d’imprévus.
