Heavy Duty Red Seal Mechanic
This position provides skilled journey person level work with the diagnosing of problems related to light and heavy equipment as well as advanced work in a variety of other trades associated with the repair of vehicles and related equipment carried out in the H & H Maintenance Garage. Equipment includes trucks, loaders, graders, cement trucks and light vehicles. Work involves repairing, rebuilding and fabricating parts and components of light and heavy vehicles, vehicle systems and related equipment. Performs duties in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices pertaining to workplace and equipment. The Heavy Equipment Technician also performs emergency road services and makes field repairs. This position may oversee apprenticeship technicians. Performs other related duties as required
Screening Criteria
·Certification as a Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician OR Certification as a Red Seal Journeyperson Truck and Transport Mechanic.
·Experience in diagnostics and repair of light and heavy equipment
·Experience in the various trades associated with repair of vehicles and equipment (asset)
Assessment Criteria
·Knowledge of diagnostics of heavy equipment and heavy trucks
·Knowledge of repair of heavy equipment and heavy trucks
·Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices
·Ability to solve problems
·Ability to manage time and tasks
·Relationship building
·Works independently
Conditions of Offer
·Valid Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Class 05 license
·Current Driver’s Abstract suitable to the Employer
·Red Seal Journeyperson certification in required discipline
·Breath Alcohol and drug screening required

Each year on April 28 we pay our respects to those workers who lost there lives, made injured or ill in the workplace.

This year highlight not only the Canadian workforce, but ALL the front line heroes worldwide that have lost their lives this year battling COVID-19.

Doctors, healthcare workers, nurses, grocery store attendants, fast food workers, contractors, hardware stores and gas attendants- Essential Workers- True Heroes, to say the least.

Honour them. Please take the time to observe a moment of silence today at 11am or 11pm.

Those of us working to keep the province and country going need recognition too. Thank them. Fight for the living, mourn the lost.
