A night of community, connection, and a cause that matters. 🤍

We were proud to host the official launch party for this year’s Souper Bowls of Hope, the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society’s signature fundraiser supporting youth and families in our community.

For Flintstones Pro owner Mike de Palma, this cause is especially meaningful. As a former VYES youth, Mike knows firsthand how much support and opportunity can matter. This year, he’s pledging $25,000 toward the 2026 fundraising goal.

VYES supports more than 1,000 youth and families across Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands every year. Every contribution helps create opportunities, provide support, and make a lasting difference.

The main event at the Union Club on October 29 is officially SOLD OUT! 🎉 We’re excited to see the community come together for such an important cause.

Some stories remind us why showing up for our community matters. ❤️

At the House of Distinction, community members came together in support of Souper Bowls of Hope, raising awareness and support for the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society (VYES).

For Mike de Palma of Flintstones Pro, this cause is deeply personal. At 14, when home wasn’t a safe place, he found support through the Kiwanis Youth Centre, a safe place connected to YES that offered food, support, and something just as important: hope.

Today, that support is coming full circle.

For 34 years, VYES has been there for young people and families across Greater Victoria, providing essential support and helping young people build a path toward a brighter future.
When we share these stories, bring people together, and put our support behind organizations making a difference, we help build a stronger community for the next generation.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their stories, and continues to support this important work.

“The world is a better place with youth in it.” ❤️

An evening of connection, conversation, and community at the House of Distinction, all in support of something that matters: creating a brighter future for young people in Greater Victoria.
Surrounded by a beautiful setting and people who care, the evening brought together supporters of Souper Bowls of Hope and the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society (VYES), united by a shared belief that every young person deserves safety, support, and the opportunity to shape their own future.

Because supporting youth isn’t just about responding when things go wrong. It’s about showing up, creating opportunities, and making sure young people know their community is there for them.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this evening meaningful and continues to support the work VYES does in our community.

How do we actually make a difference?

There isn’t just one way.

You can contribute.
You can volunteer.
You can raise funds.
You can donate food or clothing.
You don’t have to make a huge donation in order to make an impact.

$10 helps provide a warm meal.
$25 can help stock a shelf with groceries and pantry staples.
$50 can help provide a welcome kit for a young person arriving at the shelter.
$75 can help fill a backpack with school supplies.

And support can also help a young person take the next step, from hands-on work experience to getting ID, work clothes, transit and certifications to become work-ready.

For Mike, having someone believe in him when he was 14 made a difference in the direction his life took.

That’s why Flintstones Pro is proud to pledge $25,000 to Souper Bowls of Hope this year.

Now we’re asking our Victoria community to join us.
Whatever you can give, however you choose to help, there’s a place for you in this.
Sometimes making a difference starts with something as simple as saying, “I’m here for you. I’m going to support you. Let’s do this together.”

Your home has a way of telling you when something isn’t quite right. The trick is knowing when to act.

When should we start supporting vulnerable youth?
Now.

Because waiting until a young person reaches a crisis point means waiting too long.

Youth Food Pantry visits through the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society have increased by approximately 140% compared with the same period last year, a reminder that food insecurity and the need for community support are happening right now.

There are many ways to help create change. Donate. Volunteer. Raise funds. Give food or clothing. Show up for the organizations supporting young people in our community.
And on October 29, you can join us at Souper Bowls of Hope at the Union Club in Victoria, BC.

Flintstones Pro is pledging $25,000 towards the fundraiser, and we’re asking our community to help support, in any way possibleus take that support even further.
