Built in 1916 by the famous Luney Brothers who reportedly built Victoria “brick by brick”, and designed by architect Charles Watson as an “arts and crafts” style home, this heritage home on Hampshire Rd in Oak Bay, BC has now been restored by Lennox Masonry. The masons who were subcontracted by the Luney Brothers were Whitworth and Stewart who were responsible for building aspects of Victoria’s Armoury, The Hudson’s Bay building, and the Young building. The sandstone retaining walls, staircases, chimneys, and facade which nearly encompasses the entire house was in need of heritage restoration by way of steam cleaning and repointing with traditional lime mortar.

Lennox Masonry has now completed the heritage restoration at the Pump House in Esquimalt, BC. We were tasked with steam cleaning moss and lichen off of the historical brickwork, followed by repointing the building with a traditional lime-based mortar (Hotlime).
