Most everyone has had to deal with a tripped circuit breaker. You're running your hairdryer or doing laundry and everything comes to a halt. The rest of your house power is still on so you tripped a circuit breaker. Now what?

If it was your hairdryer, chances are you just need to reset your GFCI outlet which stands for ground fault circuit interrupter. Unplug your hairdryer and press in the GFCI button in the middle of the electrical outlet to reset it.

If it was the dryer for example, unless you are familiar with a tripped circuit breaker and you know how to safely check for the problem, then leave it to an electrician like Gorge Electrical in Victoria, BC.

Testing circuit breakers must be done on a live electrical panel and the possibility of electrocution or an arc flash are a potential. If your electrical panel has each circuit identified, look for the breaker identified as the “dryer” and if it's just positioned in the middle of on and off, you've spotted your tripped circuit. Flip it back on, but do not stand directly in front of the electrical panel in case there is an arc flash.
