Doug is hard at work running our 2-ton mini excavator, taking on a sewer line replacement job. The dig kicked off after a main drain backup revealed a hidden gem: the customer had 'No-Corrode' piping installed—a true relic! This quirky piping hit its peak during World War II when metals like copper and steel were scarce, pricey, and hoarded for tanks, planes, and bullets. Instead, No-Corrode was crafted from oddball materials like asphalt-coated fiber or pitch-soaked paper, pitched as a tough, corrosion-proof fix. Talk about wartime creativity!
Fast forward 80 years, and the downside shows: this stuff warps and sags over time, creating 'bellies' that trap gunk and stall drainage. It’s old-school innovation running smack into today’s plumbing woes. Permit’s in hand, shovels are hitting dirt, and we’re sorting it out
