From the Ground Up

Tyler, Site Supervisor, walks us through the latest progress on site, where the footings have now been poured and the foundation is set to begin next week.

Beyond the structure itself, early work is already underway on some of the details that will shape the finished property, including a new rock pit rainwater management system and a completed boulder wall at the rear of the home.

Once complete, the home will feature a gym, golf simulator, media room and office on the lower level, alongside the main kitchen, living spaces and entry. Upstairs will house the bedrooms and additional bathrooms.

Before access becomes limited by construction, the team is also preparing the upper yard for a future sauna, fire pit and seating area.

Foundation next. Framing to follow. Plenty more to come as this one starts taking shape.

From Blueprint to Baseline

Progress is underway on one of our latest custom home builds, with the footings now poured and foundation work set to begin.

There’s already plenty happening beyond the footprint of the home. A boulder wall has been completed at the rear of the property, while a rock pit rainwater management system is being incorporated to collect roof runoff and gradually direct it into the municipal storm system.

Inside, the plans are just as exciting. The home will feature a gym, golf simulator, media room and office, alongside spacious kitchen, living and flex areas. Upstairs will bring together the bedrooms and additional bathrooms.

Work is also being completed on the upper portion of the property while access is still available, preparing the space for a future sauna, fire pit and outdoor seating area.

Next comes the foundation, backfill and framing, when this home will really begin to take shape.

A Century Old. Built for What’s Next.

There’s something special about giving a 100-year-old home its next chapter.

This addition and renovation goes well beyond creating more space. It’s an opportunity to thoughtfully modernize the property, upgrade its infrastructure, and bring key elements of the existing home up to today’s standards.

The new garage addition is framed and enclosed, with roofing nearing completion and exterior work underway. As part of the renovation, the existing siding will be upgraded and brought up to current code, while a new James Hardie exterior featuring board and batten, a defined belly band, and shakes will help tie the old and new together.

The property’s electrical infrastructure is being modernized as well, with the existing overhead electrical service relocated underground and a new panel installed within the garage.

Inside, the recently poured garage slab was laser leveled to create a precise, zero-threshold transition between the addition and existing home.

Upstairs, removing the wall between the original primary bedroom and walk-in closet has doubled the width of the room from 9 to 18 feet, dramatically changing the scale and functionality of the space.

A century of history remains at the foundation, now being carefully adapted for the next generation of this home.

Renovation | Addition + Refinement

Project Manager Adam walks us through the latest progress on this addition and renovation project, now a couple of months into construction.

The new garage addition is fully framed, with roofing nearly complete and exterior finishing underway. James Hardie siding will bring together board and batten on the lower portion, a defined belly band, and shakes above to give the addition a layered, timeless exterior.

Inside the garage, drywall is complete, a new electrical service has been installed, and the concrete slab was recently poured using laser leveling to create a seamless transition between the new addition and the existing home.

Upstairs, the renovation is creating a significant change to the primary suite. By removing the wall between the original 9-foot-wide bedroom and walk-in closet, the primary bedroom has been opened up to an impressive 18 feet in width.

New space, thoughtful transitions, and a design that brings the existing home and new addition together as one.

Salt + Timber | Down to The Detail

Site Supervisor Russell takes us through the latest progress at Salt + Timber, where another layer of detail is bringing this custom home to life.

Inside, the fir front door has been installed, while natural field stone is now being carefully wrapped around the entrance and into the main living space. By carrying the stone seamlessly around the corners, the team has created a clean, custom look that frames the entry beautifully.

The fireplace plaster has already been completed, allowing the stonework to finish tight against it for a refined, built-in appearance. Granite countertops are now installed as well, with the final sealer being applied to protect the natural stone for years to come.

Outside, rough grading is nearing completion as the backyard takes shape using material from the original excavation. The septic field and water retention system are also complete, marking another major milestone as the project moves closer to the finish line.

From the outside in, every week brings another layer of progress to this custom home.

Natural field stone is now being installed at the front entrance and throughout the main living area, creating a seamless transition from the exterior into the home's interior. The stone wraps around the entry for a clean, custom finish that highlights the craftsmanship behind every detail.

The custom fir front door from Karmanah has also been installed and is ready for the final drywall returns, bringing the home's entrance one step closer to completion.

Inside, the fireplace has been prepared so the surrounding stone can finish cleanly against it, while the granite countertops are now in place and receiving their final protective sealer.

In the garage, the epoxy floor coating has been completed, creating a durable, low-maintenance finish that's built to handle everyday use while giving the space a clean, polished look.

Outside, the team is completing rough grading using material from the original excavation, while the septic field and water retention system are now finished. Another important milestone as the project continues moving toward the final stages.

The details you don't see matter most.

At Lakeshore Cabin, Russell walks through one of the custom exterior finishing details that's helping bring this project to life.

Each clear cedar siding board is built with a hidden clip system that allows every piece to be installed without any visible fasteners. Behind the scenes, every board is carefully notched, aligned, glued, and screwed to ensure each clip lands perfectly between the rainscreen strapping.

It's a process that takes planning and precision, but the finished result speaks for itself: clean lines, a seamless finish, and craftsmanship that will stand the test of time.

Sometimes it's the smallest details that make the biggest impact.

Hearthwood | Framework Set

There's something exciting about walking through a home at the framing stage. What was once a set of drawings is now a space you can experience, with every room, hallway, and ceiling beginning to tell the story of the finished home.

At Hearthwood, the framing crew has completed the floor systems and walls and is now putting the finishing touches on the roof trusses. Before the home is closed in, we're taking the time to walk every room, confirming window locations and checking dimensions to make sure every detail matches the original vision.

It's also the stage where the scale of the home really starts to stand out. The grand entryway welcomes you inside, the mezzanine overlooks the main living area, and the 18-foot vaulted ceilings in the great room already give a sense of how impressive the finished space will feel.

With sheathing and roofing next on the schedule, the home is quickly moving toward being weather-tight. From there, the plumbers, electricians, and mechanical trades will begin their rough-ins, marking another major milestone in bringing this custom home to life.

The Afterlight House has come a long way.

What began as a freshly excavated site has transformed through every stage of construction: foundations, framing, building enclosure, and now into the finishing phase. With drywall complete and interior finishes underway, the vision is becoming a reality.

Every milestone represents the craftsmanship, coordination, and attention to detail that goes into building a custom home. It's rewarding to look back at where it all started and see just how far the project has progressed.

We're looking forward to sharing the final stages as Afterlight House continues to take shape.

Hearthwood | Framing Milestone

Another exciting milestone has been reached at our Hearthwood custom home. With the structure now taking shape, every week brings the project one step closer to becoming a finished home.

Here's what's happening on site:

• The floor systems and walls are complete, with the framing crew now finishing the roof trusses.

• Every window opening and room dimension is being verified to ensure the home is built exactly as designed.

• The home's incredible layout is becoming easy to appreciate, featuring a grand entry, mezzanine overlook, and an impressive great room with 18-foot vaulted ceilings.

• Sheathing and roofing are up next, followed by mechanical, plumbing, and electrical rough-ins once the home is dried in.

The framing stage is one of our favourites because it's the first time you can truly walk through the home and see the vision come to life.
