📣 New federal heat pump rebates are coming!

The Government of Canada has announced a new National Heat Pump Rebate to help homeowners make the switch to efficient heating and cooling.

Here’s what’s been announced:

✅ Up to $10,000 for eligible households below median income
✅ $2,000 for other eligible homeowners
✅ No pre- or post-installation energy audits required
✅ Rebates that can be combined with provincial programs, subject to eligibility

A little less paperwork. A little more comfort. We like the sound of that.

The program isn’t open yet. Launch dates, detailed eligibility rules, and how it will work alongside B.C.’s rebates still need to be confirmed.

Heating oil prices in Canada are currently around $2.30/L — up roughly 50% from this time last year — while continued global instability is keeping pressure on oil prices.

For a typical 500-litre delivery, that’s over $1,100 per fill.

🎃 A little extra green before Halloween.

BC Hydro has added a limited-time bonus rebate of up to $1,000 for eligible heat pump installations — on top of the regular rebates already available.

For qualifying homeowners switching from electric heat:

🏠 Whole-home heat pump: $4,000 rebate + $1,000 bonus
🌡️ Partial-home heat pump: $1,500 rebate + $500 bonus

Condo and apartment heat pump installations may qualify for bonus rebates too.

And as an extra perk, eligible customers can also enter for a chance to win 1 of 3 $5,000 prizes from BC Hydro.

The catch? Your new heat pump needs to be installed, invoiced and fully paid by October 31, 2026, and bonus funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you’ve been thinking about replacing your electric baseboards with a heat pump, this might be a pretty good time to get moving.
