We love working in the trades industry. Using our hands and skill to make something great fills us with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Working with other amazing, talented and kind people makes this 'job' so much better. We truly like coming to work everyday.

The skilled trades industry is stereotypically centered around specific gender and cultural expectations or behaviours. Fostering change within these boundaries might seem pointless. Finding a place where you fit into this industry, safely and authentically, can feel impossible.

It's up to us, the business owners, to foster that change and create safe spaces, for everyone. We need to show up for everyone on our Team, and in our client base. Let them know that we see their diversity, uniqueness and worth, and we honour it, and want to be a supportive and inclusive place for everyone. To work, to build community, to make something amazing together, and find a place for themselves where they are respected, valued and supported.

One of the perks of running your own business is that you can run it however you'd like. You can set the tone. You can raise the bar. This is powerful. Use that power for good. ♥️

HUGE shout out to Adam, Russ, Garreth and everyone on the Team at !

You know how it goes. One of your trucks has a sticky lock in the passenger door... you'll see with it eventually, and for now, you adapt.

Oh and this other truck, it's a weirdo; one key opens the door but only this other one will start the ignition. But neither of them are chipped keys. Huh, we should probably sort that out too.

Then a third truck has an issue with their driver's side door lock ... ok now all this stuff needs to be dealt with.

Before you know it, you've got almost half your fleet lined up in a parking lot to be checked over by the knowledgeable people at Arcadia.

They fixed the locks, that sticky ignition, and cut all new keys for each truck, so there's only one needed to unlock the door and start the truck. This was long-overdue and now it feels a bit like Christmas in our world. I'm already thinking about other keys I can get them to fix.

Feeling some big 'Friday feels' today!

But honestly, I'd feel the joy any day that I'm sitting on this fabulous patio, sipping an iced coffee from Can you feel the fun? 🌈 I'm not an influencer (hah!) but all this rad art is giving me serious insta-worthy selfie vibes. 📸

The colourful tapestry of our strongest communities includes amazing small businesses like this one. Since they opened their doors years ago, they've been a go-to for us when we're working in Oak Bay. We never feel out of place in our 'work clothes' and are proud to support another small biz like ours. And seriously, the cookies! *chef's kiss!*

Make sure your summer plans include coming to check out their patio update, and treat yourself to some locally made goodness. (We've already talked about the cookies, right? 😝)

We think everyday day should be Pride Day, and understand the importance of standing up for what we believe in. It may feel like we live in a progressive and supportive society, overall, here in Victoria, but we believe voices of support and inclusion still need to be heard. Today and everyday.

From the fantastic members of our Team, the great small businesses we are proud to work with, and the incredible people in our community, we feel lucky to know you, work with you and celebrate pride with you.

Tomorrow kicks off the final 9 days of and we are excited. Big Gay Dog walk anyone?

The evolution of a stellar idea✨

You're on a jobsite and see a gorgeous cat on the windowsill.

The cat wants to get a closer look. So cute!

You post both pics to the Team (we can't be the only ones with such a chat, right?)

"look at this sweet kitty I saw today!"

We all appropriately swoon at the cuteness. That's who we are.

One Team Member comments "it looks like it needs little pants on".

Another one says "I'll see your pants and raise you some overalls" and a little True Earth hat.

Then "Doesn't it look like they could have a mower in their left hand?"

And suddenly we have a new Team mascot and are planning t-shirts.

We work with the best people.

We need to take a minute to give a shout out to our incredible Install Team. They absolutely nailed another sweet patio project.

They worked with last week on this beauty of a patio. We are, as usual, blown away by our Team's skill and finesse. This home is going to look so great when it's done, and we're proud to have had a hand in that.
