The Town of Vegreville is actively responding to an ongoing heavy rainfall event. Town crews and contracted vacuum trucks are working through the night to manage impacts, and residents may notice increased noise from ongoing operations.

All municipal systems remain operational, but the sustained rainfall is placing significant strain on infrastructure. Some homes are experiencing sewer backups, and additional resources have been deployed to help reduce system pressure.

Residents are asked to limit water use where possible until conditions improve. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews continue their response.

The Town of Vegreville continues to respond to an unprecedented rainfall event, with nearly 127 mm (5 inches) of rain recorded in some areas over the past 24 hours.

While all Town infrastructure remains operational, systems are experiencing significant strain. Crews and contracted vacuum trucks are working around the clock to help manage water levels and reduce pressure on the system.

Residents are asked to conserve water where possible by limiting the use of dishwashers, washing machines, and other non-essential water use until conditions improve.

Since May 1st, I've taken just one day off.
With the help of my incredible crew, we've accomplished a tremendous amount in a short time:
• 63 full spring cleanups
• 12 aeration-only jobs
• 5 gardens tilled
• 122 lawn mowing jobs (including multiple large acreages and two cemeteries)
We're proud of what we've been able to accomplish, but unfortunately the recent rain arrived before we could complete the final 10 spring cleanups on our list. If you're one of those customers, please know that we haven't forgotten about you-we'll be back as soon as conditions dry up enough for us to do the job properly.
For now, it's time for a well-earned rest.
Thank you to all of our customers for your patience, understanding, and support, and a huge thank you to my amazing crew for the long hours, hard work, and dedication you've shown throughout this busy spring season. We couldn't do it without you.

Significant rainfall is expected across parts of Alberta beginning Sunday, with total rainfall amounts of 50 to 90 mm likely. Localized amounts over 100 mm are possible.

Rain will begin Saturday night into Sunday and become heavy at times, especially across Central Alberta and the Foothills. The rainfall will persist into the work week before easing Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Stay informed by monitoring local forecasts and be prepared for impacts. Consider postponing outdoor activities. The Alberta River forecast Centre provides information on current stream Flow conditions and alerts. Check Alberta 511 for road conditions
