This past December was one of the busiest snow seasons we’ve seen in a long time.
We received an exceptional amount of snowfall, which meant our crews were out repeatedly—often multiple times per storm—visiting properties to keep them safe and accessible. Many sites required far more service calls than an average winter month.
To keep up with the volume of work and maintain safe conditions, we brought in additional casual on-call staff and hired another full-time on-call employee during December. This allowed us to continue meeting service expectations despite the demanding weather conditions.
Before the season began, all customers were provided with clear information about pricing. With the volume and frequency of storms in December, those agreed-upon services understandably resulted in higher-than-usual invoices, and we recognize that there may have been some sticker shock. We also want our customers to know that we are always open to working with them — including setting up payment arrangements when needed — we do not expect full payment in one lump sum if financial constraints are a concern.
Public sidewalks are another important piece of winter maintenance. Municipal bylaws require sidewalks to be cleared within 72 hours of a storm ending, and for safety and liability reasons, as well as our own professional standards, we clear town sidewalks continuously during snow events. Leaving sidewalks for a single weekly cleanup would not be safe for the public and would not align with the level of service we expect from our business.
Our team worked extremely hard throughout December—often around the clock—and some of them only had only two days off the entire month. Safety, reliability, and meeting our commitments to customers remained our top priorities.
We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support during an unusually demanding winter month. If you ever have questions about your service or billing, we’re always happy to talk things through.
Thank you for trusting us to keep your properties safe this winter.
