Work Dates: Starting July 13th for an estimate duration of 7 weeks.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday Potentially between 6am – 6pm.
Disruptions: Single Lane Alternating Traffic, Minor Delays for closures, potential temporary sidewalk implications.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of our beloved colleague Tyrell Weaver. Tyrell was an integral part of the YRB Vanderhoof family since 2015. We wish to pass along our deepest sympathies to Tyrell’s family, friends and colleagues as we all mourn his passing.

🚧 Highway 16/27 Intersection Project 🚧

Beginning Monday, July 6th, we'll be kicking off a major upgrade at the Hwy 16 and Hwy 27 Intersection.

Work Scope: Intersection Improvements and Signalization (Traffic Lights)
Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM July 6th to tentatively Aug 31

Full traffic control with SLAT (Single Lane Alternating Traffic) will be in effect throughout the projects with minor delays to be expected. The zone will be speed reduced throughout the duration of the project to 50km/hr. Please follow all traffic control devices.

During the project the CVSE Inspection Station and toilets will be closed to the public.

Position: Traffic Control Person / Bridge Crew Laborer

Location: Vanderhoof, British Columbia

Employment Type: Summer Work

About the Role: We are seeking reliable and safety-focused Traffic Control Persons and Bridge Crew Laborers to join our team in Vanderhoof, BC. The ideal candidates will support essential road and bridge maintenance operations, with a strong emphasis on traffic safety and worksite coordination. These hands-on roles are critical for keeping Northern BC roads and infrastructure safe and accessible, especially during winter conditions. Experience in traffic control or construction labor is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices, signs, cones, and barriers in work zones.
• Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely around active road and bridge maintenance sites.
• Perform general labor duties on bridge crews, including minor repairs, cleaning, vegetation control, and material handling.
• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections of vehicles, equipment, and traffic control setups.
• Follow all WorkSafeBC, MoTT, and company safety protocols to ensure worksite and public safety.
• Collaborate effectively with crew members and supervisors to maintain operational efficiency.
• Complete required documentation and reports for traffic control and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) Ticket (required) – Traffic Control Only – Bridge Crew not needed.
• Experience in traffic control, flagging, or construction labor is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with road/bridge maintenance practices and safety protocols.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold temperatures, snow, and rain.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical fitness and willingness to perform manual labor tasks.

Fort St. James area motorists – please plan ahead
The section of road between Takla Road and the Hampton scales will be closed at the crossing this weekend for rebuilding:
📅 Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th
Apollo Forest Products has kindly allowed the public to use the Apollo Cutoff Road as a detour route.
Key details for your safety:
• Detour route is shown in green on the attached map (closed section in red)
• Signage and barricades will be in place on site
• Speed limit reduced to 30 km/h through the Apollo cutoff and Apollo mill
• Use the upper road only — do not go down toward Apollo’s scale yard
Minimal disruptions are expected, but please use extra caution on the detour road.
