Roots on the Roof oversees the usage of the rooftop garden located on top of the Nest Student Union Building. The rooftop space is composed of a 192m2 garden space, that is enclosed by a fence. The Rooftop Garden Club also oversees 5 communal garden plots that exist outside of this fenced area. Roots on the Roof creates a communal space that celebrates sustainable and just food systems through hea
lthy relationships with food, each other, and the natural world. By engaging with UBC’s diverse community, we hope to provide an avenue for knowledge sharing that facilitates dynamic ways to approach food system issues. Goals
-To grow and harvest food sustainably
-Develop and conduct food literacy workshops to facilitate conversations around food, culture, health, and sustainability
-To create an inclusive space for social engagement and opportunities to explore, learn, and actively take part in food system initiatives.
