As summer winds down, take a fresh look at the driving hazards your employees face.

Most collisions are preventable and regular road safety risk assessments help you spot and fix problems before someone gets hurt. Assessments are also part of your responsibilities to protect employees driving on company business.

This month's Road Safety Planner from Road Safety At Work () gives you a menu of options that help you update your assessment and manage the risks.

Behind the scenes! ๐ŸŽฌ

A huge thank you to Glen Furtado and the Cement Association of Canada (CAC) for sharing these sneak peeks of our upcoming videos.

Filming wraps up this week after hitting locations across both British Columbia and Alberta. This joint project by the Concrete BC & Concrete Alberta Joint Sustainability & Resilience Committee highlights our industry's commitment to a low-carbon future.

๐ŸŽฅHere is a look at Concrete BC Board Director Dale Furber sharing his industry knowledge on camera at 's Aggregates facility in Victoria, BC.

We look forward to sharing the final videos with you all soon!

Canadian general contractors can now access a new training program aimed at reducing embodied carbon in construction. The ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete, in collaboration with NEU, has launched the certificate program titled Low-Carbon: Fundamentals, Materials, and Innovations. This program covers concrete and cement carbon footprints, lifecycle stages, and emission reduction strategies.

The program focuses on selecting lower-carbon alternatives for Portland cement and other concrete materials. It addresses design and placement strategies for lower-carbon concrete and implementation challenges during construction.
This initiative complements NEUโ€™s previous qualification program and aligns with the growing emphasis on sustainability in the construction industry.
This certificate is significant as it equips contractors with essential knowledge to meet increasing project requirements related to embodied carbon, ultimately contributing to more sustainable construction practices across Canada.

Big news for sustainable concrete across North America!

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has officially released its version 4.0 Industry-Wide Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Regional Benchmark Report. Powered by a massive survey of over 1,000 plants, the data reveals a 21% reduction in ready-mixed concrete carbon emissions from 2014 to 2021.

Critically, these updates align with the newly revised NSF International Product Category Rule (PCR). Because this PCR is unified for both Canada and the United States, it establishes a consistent standard for producers, specifiers, and policymakers across the entire North American market.

Want to learn how these reporting changes and regional benchmarks will impact your next low-carbon project? There is still time to secure your spot for the upcoming live learning session.
