PROJECT / Hornby Island Huts
Hornby Island
2022

Carefully sited within the existing landscape, the huts preserve native vegetation, natural drainage patterns, and views toward the coastline. Their compact forms and darkened cedar cladding allow the buildings to recede into the forest, subtly shifting in tone and presence with the changing coastal light and seasonal conditions.

PROJECT / Hornby Island Huts
Hornby Island
2022

Hornby Island Huts balances warmth and restraint through exposed fir structure, integrated millwork, and interiors lined in lightly bleached red cedar. Double-height glazing draws in shifting coastal light and frames the surrounding forest and ocean, creating a strong connection to the landscape while expanding the sense of space within the compact footprint.

Hornby Island
2022

Conceived as a series of compact structures embedded within the coastal landscape, Hornby Island Huts explores a prefabricated approach to remote construction through efficient assembly, durable materials, and a minimal site footprint. Charred cedar cladding and mass-timber construction ground the cabins within their rugged setting while supporting a low-impact relationship with the land.

PROJECT / Standardized Housing Project
British Columbia
2024

Developed for the Province of British Columbia, the Standardized Housing Project is a catalogue of adaptable residential building systems designed to support new forms of small-scale, multi-unit housing. Conceived as a flexible kit-of-parts, the project combines standardized components with interchangeable floor plans to accommodate a wide range of site conditions, densities, and modes of living — from duplexes and laneway homes to townhomes and larger multi-unit configurations.

The project looks at housing as both infrastructure and architecture: balancing efficiency, repeatability, and construction logic with spatial generosity, material expression, and adaptability over time. Through a component-based approach, the system aims to simplify delivery while creating resilient, high-quality housing that can evolve with communities and changing patterns of occupation.

Inside, movement unfolds gradually through spaces of varying light and compression. Filtered apertures, muted tones, and carefully framed views create an atmosphere attuned to stillness and the rhythms of daily life.

PROJECT / Lantern House
Vancouver
2023

From the street, Lantern House presents as measured and enigmatic. Rough stucco, board-formed concrete, and cedar screening establish a quiet material presence beneath the canopy of mature oaks.

PROJECT / Lantern House

2023

Light is filtered through cedar screens and skylights, shifting across polished concrete, limewashed walls, and white oak surfaces. The material palette is restrained, allowing texture, shadow, and daylight to define the atmosphere of the interior.
