We’re excited about a hybrid design we’re developing for a First Nations client in BC, combining our own H**pWall Yurt design with the Skeetchestn Dodeca-Homes🌱 🛖

The design will feature Skeetchestn Dodeca Home's premium-grade fir timber 12-sided round house frames with our fire-resistant, breathable H**pWall panels installed between the upright posts, along with H**pWool insulation in the roof and floor assemblies.

The interior H**pWall Panels will be finished with a breathable clay plaster and the exterior with Vipeq Canada Thermal CorkShield Spray. A highly vapor-permeable membrane coating made from 100% cork harvested sustainably from cork trees.

This seamless exterior finish will help create a breathable, fire, rot, UV, weather, and water-resistant thermal barrier designed for high performance, long-term durability, improved acoustic and insulation value, and a healthier wall assembly.

For this clients project we will be building three interconnected structures: two 44-foot diameter (1500 sqf) Dodeca round house timber frames with our h**p infill materials and one 24-foot diameter H**pWall yurt. These are to replace the clients homes that were lost during the devastating wildfire that destroyed much of town of Lytton, BC, along with many homes on nearby reserves.

If you’ve lived through wildfire season in BC 🔥 you already know… it’s usually not the big flames that take homes out. It’s the embers.

They get carried by the wind and can travel miles ahead of the fire, landing on roofs, decks, and right into vents. That’s how most homes actually ignite one ember in the wrong spot.

One thing almost nobody talks about: your vents.
If they’re not protected, you’re basically giving embers a straight path into your attic. In higher-risk areas, adding 1/16" stainless steel mesh can make a big difference.

A few other upgrades that help:
• fire-resistant windows
• enclosed soffits and fascia
• rooftop sprinklers
• hardscaping around the house
• avoiding wood fencing near the structure

Nothing is truly fireproof but the right materials can buy you time. And time matters.

If you’re building or upgrading, it’s worth looking at our H**pBlocks or H**pWall Panels. They’re Class A / Class 1 fire-rated (NFPA 286). H**pcrete will char, but it doesn’t ignite, which helps slow fire spread and adds a layer of protection during ember storms or direct flame exposure.
