Role Summary
Janitor, or Maintenance Worker, is an individual responsible for maintaining cleanliness both inside and outside of a building. Their most important duties include cleaning flooring and carpets, emptying trash, and sanitizing restrooms, kitchens, common areas, while maintaining a clean and tidy working environment for the client.
Primary Responsibilities and Performance Indicators

• Carrying out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
• Cleaning and supplying designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)
• Performing and documenting routine inspections and maintenance activities
• Ensuring Supervisor is notified of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
• Making adjustments and minor repairs
• Stocking and maintaining supply rooms
• Cooperating with the rest of the staff and being a part of a supportive team
• Following all health and safety regulations
• Maintaining required tickets, training and orientations ● To Be Determined
Profile of Role Requirements
Necessary Preferred
• Experience
o 1+ years’ experience in the cleaning and service industry an asset but not required
• Education
• Certifications
o WHMIS certificate
o Site specific orientations (to be completed upon hiring)
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets. ● Cultural Attributes
○ Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage tasks within the scope of work.
○ Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

Wage Range
Hours of work: 25-40 hours/week
Starting Wage: 22.00/hour
Average wage 22-23.00/hour

Effective after 3 months of employment, 20 hours/week minimum.
