It’s important to hire licensed professionals.

This past week, we attended a service call for a customer who was experiencing an issue with their air conditioner. The A/C had stopped working, and because the customer had some health concerns, having reliable air conditioning was especially important.

When we arrived, we found severe damage inside the outdoor electrical disconnect controlling the A/C. The disconnect had literally melted internally, causing the air conditioner to stop functioning.

This type of failure can happen when electrical connections are not properly tightened or checked. Loose connections can create heat over time and potentially lead to serious damage.

Our journeyman quickly diagnosed the problem and made the necessary repair by replacing the damaged A/C disconnect. The customer can now safely use their air conditioning again.

Even with fall on the way, we’re sure to have some warm days ahead! ☀️

Brand new kitchen for this customer!

Here are some photos from a kitchen renovation that we recently completed. The customer now has new outlets along the countertop, a new dedicated line for her microwave, and check out the new under-cabinet lighting we installed to brighten up the area!

⚡ Getting Ready for a New Electrical Service! ⚡

We’re getting ready for a new panel and electrical service installation at a cottage up north for one of our customers.

The hydro service is being reinstalled, and we’re getting everything prepared for the new electrical panel and service.

Did you know a yellowed alarm is a very good indicator that you must replace the alarm with a new one? 🚨

But don't wait until the alarm turns yellow! Check the manufacturer's date found on the back of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to see if your alarms are expired or about to expire. Replace all alarms that are 10 years old or older.

Sorry folks, we've been so busy over the last little bit at R. Vout Electric, I have been forgetting to take photos at the job sites for my page on Facebook. So here is one photo I took a couple weeks ago on a bathroom re-model job for a client in Quinte West. As you can see at the time the bathroom was not yet completed, but the electrical portion was done. Thia will be a nice change for the customers when all is completed!

Disaster Avoided! ⚡

A couple of weeks ago, we received an emergency call from one of our loyal customers who owns a restaurant in the Belleville area.

The restaurant had blown its main fuse. While attempting to replace it, the main disconnect switch was accidentally shorted, breaking the main on/off handle and leaving the entire restaurant without power.

We sprang into action the very same day, assessed the situation, and coordinated with the building owners and the other tenants. To minimize disruption, we completed an after-hours emergency repair on the electrical service, restoring power in time for the restaurant to open the following day.

Situations like this are a reminder that working on electrical service equipment can be extremely dangerous. If you're experiencing issues with your main disconnect or electrical service, always contact a licensed electrical contractor. Attempting these repairs yourself can result in serious injury, extensive equipment damage, or a prolonged power outage.
