There are a lot of factors that contribute to Hydro costs but one of the biggest is lighting. Simply changing your incandescent bulbs to more energy efficient Leds can save you a bundle especially if you like to leave the lights on all the time. Leds are generally around 1/5 the consumption over regular bulbs and I know a lot of people will say that led bulbs are an ugly colour or too white but there are many bulbs that have the same colour temperature as a regular bulb. As an electrical contractor I only ever install Leds in all my projects and my clients love them. Yes there is more of an up front cost in buying them but they can pay for themselves in the first year alone and then you are actually saving money from then on not to mention that they last way long than a regular bulb and generally come with a 5 year warranty. Just food for thought...
