Council elections are underway!

Nomination emails went out to eligible recipients on Monday, with nominations closing on October 26. Five Architect seats are open for three-year terms beginning January 2027. Curious what serving on Council is really like?

Join the OAA's Registration Committee in 2027 and help decide the outcome when the Registrar proposes to refuse, suspend, revoke, or add terms and conditions to a Licence, Certificate of Practice, or Temporary Licence.

When applicants request a hearing, Registration Committee members hear the matter and make the determination. If you're ready to bring fairness and sound judgment to that role, we'd like you on the committee.

Get to Know a Current Councillor – Maxine Blais

OAA Council serves as the board of directors for the Ontario Association of Architects. With election season kicking off later this fall, the OAA asked Councillors what made them want to run in the first place.

Maxine Blais is an Architect at J.L. Richards & Associates Limited in Sudbury and the Chair of Building Equality in Architecture (BEA) North. For the OAA, she sits on the Complaints Committee and serves as the Council liaison for the Algoma Society of Architects, North Bay Society of Architects, Northern Ontario Society of Architects, and the Northwestern Society of Architects. Maxine holds the Northern Ontario seat for Council.

Get to Know a Current Councillor – Thomas Yeung

OAA Council serves as the board of directors for the Ontario Association of Architects. With election season kicking off later this fall, the OAA asked Councillors what made them want to run in the first place.

Thomas Yeung is an Architect in Ontario and New York with projects throughout North America and China; he is the Senior Project Director with Topfar Developments Ltd. For the OAA, he previously served as a Vice President and now chairs the Building Committee and is the Council Liaison for the Northumberland Durham Society of Architects and the Trent Society of Architects. Thomas holds one of the Central Ontario seats on Council.
