This week, we gathered at SARA to begin our year with conversations around practice.

Years after its completion, the space continues to carry its weight in service, food and company.

Some spaces settle in quietly and only grow more assured with time. Proud to see it thriving 8 years after it first opened its doors.

A few more images of the sculpted architectural ceiling at Amadeus Yorkville, beautifully captured by .

We really wanted the ceiling to instil a strong sense of atmosphere in the space. The shop is located at a bustling intersection and gets quite busy throughout the day (the pastries are incredible 😋) and yet, there’s a tangible sense of calm when you enter.

It was important to us that the ceiling be activating but also understated, allowing the desserts to remain the shop’s centrepiece — architecture that is felt more than it is seen.

Introducing Amadeus Yorkville, an atmospheric patisserie evoking the art and rigour of pastry-making, quietly defined by its sculpted forms.

A huge thank you to for trusting us to help establish the much-beloved bakery in its new downtown locale, and to the amazing project team for working with us to bring this design to life!

Pet Objects 2, now on display , is a new iteration of an ongoing research project which seeks to re-imagine our relationships and stories with our household objects, amplifying the odd sensation that inanimate “things” just may, possibly, have a soul, or feelings.

The form is derived from a multi-step process exploiting the possibilities of both analogue and digital craft. An initial form was created by casting plaster in spandex, which was then 3D scanned into a digital model, essentially granting us unlimited control to manipulate its form. The initial model was repeatedly copied and rotated along a central axis, then stretched upwards, allowing for a new shape to emerge. The final piece resists categorization - it’s both singular and plural, and it feels architectural yet also like a living being.

Huge thanks to and for the support!!

Grounded in simplicity and restraint, Hay Sushi captures our ongoing interest in dichotomy — the critical act of bringing opposing ideas into conversation — as well as our commitment to executing contextually sensitive design.

In this space, each architectural gesture is intentionally streamlined to produce an honest and poignant dialogue with what already exists.

Roncesvalles House - The galley kitchen is backed with a screen wall that visually connects it with the floating steps going to the second floor. This screen lets in the light from the generous skylight above the staircase, illuminating the centre of this long, very narrow townhouse.

Construction starting Summer 2025.

Living Beauty Inc WIP - We’re so excited to see the floor tile coming together at the first brick-and-mortar store of Living Beauty Inc. The tile builds out in concentric rings from a circular stone inlay, marking the transition between retail and treatment spaces.

Shout out to the construction team and tilers for their expertise and for putting in the care and time necessary to bring this to life. And of course a huge thanks to for trusting us with this.

Estimated completion Spring 2025.

At Hay Sushi, new perforated off-white steel wraps the restored banding and marks the main entrance, enhancing the restaurant’s street presence.

Meanwhile on the interior, small but meaningful wayfinding creates ease and familiarity in the large space, such as the glowing cubic light that greets diners, directs to pick-up orders, and visually calls attention to the sushi prep bar.

Collectively, these gestures follow a contemporary, subdued approach to wayfinding that summons attention through restraint.
