I own and run a masonry business in the GTA and have been doing so for over 20 years. In fact I have been in this industry since 1998, running my own jobs since 2004. My work experience comes from many hours of interning under skilled Restorers. This includes having certification in Masonry Restoration, Fall Safety and being Licensed with the City of Toronto. This one was done by picture. It is the furthest I have travelled for a cold-call client - for his mother-in-law.

He emailed me a pic. I emailed him a quote / work order and I got the job.

It went as planned. I deliver every time!!!

Also, He hired me again on his personal home in Toronto. I spied his issue because he recommended me to his next door neighbour. Seeing his chimney from her roof - the Birds Eye view - allowed me to alert him of his chimney problem.

One hopes they are doing it thoroughly, but I come across all sorts of things.

M.A. texted me this about my work: “Especially cause your work is more on the luxury side / asthethics unless it's structural”.

WOW!

There is a lot of truth in this. Translation, some ppl do this work poorly, but they make it “work”. Perhaps longevity and aesthetics go wanting. I see this too often. The expression is that it is done with a lick and a promise [a task—usually performed quickly, carelessly, and incompletely] Done with no real attention and care. I CARE!!! Always. Every step of the way. It’s called integrity.

I work to make it tough A N D aesthetic. What M.A. was saying hit me a certain way. I need clients to really understand that ANYBODY can do this work. But aesthetics and longevity are a big deal. They cannot know this.

Someone help me market this.

Fair or not fair?

There is a void between someone wanting work and someone USING you and not giving any concern for your time, profession, professionalism, sweat equity and care.

We deal with this all the time.

Not untrue!

Most of us trying to cause anything get them. It’s what you do with them, after the fact, is what matters.

Stay stuck in them and you’ll likely shrivel.

My suggestion is to learn from them and keep going for your goal.
