Urbacon renovated more than 700 luxury signature rooms and adjacent corridors over nine floors at the iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto.

The complete renovation involved demolition and abatement, a complete replacement of mechanical and electrical systems, and new high-quality fixtures and finishes -- all while the hotel remained fully operational.

Urbacon revitalized the , which is devoted to ceramic art and is the only museum of its kind in Canada.

By reinforcing the original heritage structure, designed by Keith Wagland in 1984, Urbacon was able to build on top, adding an additional three feet of headroom and extending the original footprint by 14,000 sq ft.

This award-winning project not only created a bolder Gardiner with a new store, multi-purpose event space and restaurant, but improved the visitor experience and allows the museum to host international exhibits of contemporary works.

Urbacon is proud to be part of the construction team for the new Rogers Stadium – an open-air concert venue in Toronto – alongside BaAM Productions.

Live Nation Canada recently unveiled plans for the new 50,000 capacity seasonal outdoor venue at YZD (formerly Downsview Airport Lands), a 370-acre site developed by Northcrest Developments. With globally-recognized names such as Coldplay and Oasis already confirmed for the summer of 2025, Rogers Stadium will become one of Canada’s most iconic concert venues.

Infrastructure Ontario selected Urbacon to complete a comprehensive retrofit and modernization of a nine-storey, 628,000 sq ft office building at 222 Jarvis Street in Toronto - an iconic example of 1970s brutalist architecture.

Formerly known as the Sears building, this project included a refurbishment of the base building interior, upgrades to the electrical and mechanical systems, overall shell and envelope remediation, new escalators with a central skylight, and the creation of a new four-storey lobby.

At the time, it was the largest existing building renovation in North America. The completed project -- designed by -- saves 4,930 tonnes of CO2 a year, is LEED® Gold certified and demonstrates that older buildings can be upgraded to the quality and efficiency of new buildings.

The base building improvements led to a further 120,000 sq ft office fit out over three floors for the Ministry of Government Services, with Urbacon delivering a modern, bright and sustainable workplace for Government employees.

Infrastructure Ontario selected Urbacon to lead the construction of the new urban park and waterfront trail at Ontario Place in Toronto. The eight-acre park and trail links to the existing waterfront trail system and unlocks a section of Toronto’s waterfront that was gated to the public for more than 40 years.

Named Trillium Park and the William G. Davis Trail, the design was inspired by the Ontario landscape, with many of the materials sourced from within Ontario. The design is the culmination of discussions with people from across Ontario, including the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.
